Definitely don't have those on my 1009. I have been pulling the starter quite a bit recently and there are no braces.
As for the cracked trans, the same happened to me with two different housings. The solution was simple: weld back together and pay the driveline shop for a new driveshaft...
I called every dismantler I can find in my area and turned up with squat, Does anybody have a source where they can get this part? Dealership all list discontinued and cannot find it.

Is it safe to weld the support bracket stud back onto the starter? Mine is broken off and I need to attach some sort of support structure. If it is safe to weld on a starter I can re-attach the stud to affix the bracket.
I used a spade connector with an inline fuse. I also connected it to the light switch, (pull knob) so it only comes on when they are on.
I really don't think there are any factory setups, rather these are extra sockets for aftermarket systems. They are just enabling you to add new systems in...

I had an idea a while back to instead build a tire carrier rack on the back, more jeepish, that way I don't gain 500+ lbs of super-rollover over my head.
