What did you do to your trailer today.

Although not what I intend for the ultimate use of my M116A3 (it, hopefully, will become a camping trailer) I used it today to haul some new student desks over to my wife's school. Using my truck bed and the trailer made it a one trip job when it would have been a two trip job without it.

    Trailer Tongue Decal M116A3 USMC

No Problem. Also, ref. the wheels. You'll probably want to stick with the stock type steel wheels. Aluminum or alloy "rims" might work but even if they do they will probably require different lug nuts.

    Trailer Tongue Decal M116A3 USMC

You'll probably get a better response if you start your own thread about that. Also, you might want to search "wheels" in the trailer section. That being said I am currently using Dodge Ram 18 inch wheels on mine, which are 8x6.5 also, with 275/65/18 tires. The Dodge 17 or 18 inch 8 lug...

    Trailer Tongue Decal M116A3 USMC

Since it's not a full-on restoration I don't think I'd go that far. Just thought it would be nice to stick one back on there if someone had some sitting around.

    Trailer Tongue Decal M116A3 USMC

Have checked eBay, actually got another type of data plate off there, but good idea on posting in the parts wanted section. Will do that.

    Trailer Tongue Decal M116A3 USMC

On my M116A3 on the curb side of the tongue aft of the tie-down data plate, there was a decal of some type that was faded and peeling off. I couldn't read any of it so I scraped the remnants off. I got to wondering what that decal was and wondered if there was somewhere I could get a duplicate...

Surge brake lockout Pin / Hole Doesn't Line Up

Thanks for the response. Brakes aren't working yet, just starting to work on that. The Master Cylinder is empty but it looks clean (no corrosion). There was a bunch of silicone all over the banjo bolt and MC block so I'm thinking that it may have a bad washer and it all leaked out there and...

Surge brake lockout Pin / Hole Doesn't Line Up

I did a search and found a thread from 2011 where they were discussing this problem but it didn't seem to have a final resolution so I'll ask. The hole where you can put in a pin to lockout the surge brakes for backing up doesn't seem to be lining up on my M116A3 trailer. I haven't really...

    M116A3 Master Cylinder Question

Just starting to get into the surge brakes on my M116A3. I pulled the cap off the master cylinder, which unscrewed easily, and looked inside. The inside of the MC was just barely damp. However, it didn't look all rusty and corroded as the pictures of some that I've seen. (See for...

    Tire Paint Removal

Hummm...now that makes me think. I wonder if Plasti-dip would work? I might give that a shot since I already have some in the garage.

Landing Gear Spare Parts? Anyone? (Or suggestion on how to repair it?)

I think I have the part I need located. If it doesn't work out I'll PM you.

    Tire Paint Removal

Yeah...I'm not sure that would work for very long. As the tires flexed the paint would flake off.

    Tire Paint Removal

Maybe it's my computer but all I see is a black cap. What is it?

    Tire Paint Removal

Probably won't get to it for a while. I'm actually going to sell those tires and wheels and I'm working on other issues on the trailer right now so that's on the back burner. Just wanted suggestions on how to clean them up to sell them. When I do get to it I'll post about it though. ...and...

    Tire Paint Removal

This has probably been ask and answered before but I couldn't find anything via a search. The painted on ID number that they tend to do on one of the tires for the government auctions... ...what is the best way to remove this without damage to the tire? Thanks!

Landing Gear Spare Parts? Anyone? (Or suggestion on how to repair it?)

I took the landing gear off my M116A3 to lube it up. It worked, but it didn’t work very well, and I figured it probably just needed some fresh lubrication. So, I took it apart. When I got the top off I found that the lube around the gear had pretty much dried into partially congealed chunks...

    M101a3 trailer build

There's a version of that sink stovetop combo on Amazon (Dometic MO0911CIS0000US) for $240. Much cheaper than others I've seen. The only major difference is the sink is on the other side.

M116A3 Landing Gear Crank Fabrication & 12 volt LED Conversion

Finally picked up an M116A3 (Thanks DSD277) and I got to work on a few things this week. The ultimate plan is a small camping trailer build. First thing, as with most of them, the front landing gear crank was MIA so I found a thread here with the measurements for one and dug through the odds...
