Anyone interested in heavier duty hydraulic head button retaining clips?

AZK9, you're doing good, but I'd like to keep this thread related to making new clips. ...
Hi David. I understand. No problem.

I've deleted this post and used it to create a new thread that I posted earlier.

I titled it: Understanding what the hydraulic head, retaining clip is on a deuce...

Here's the link for anyone interested: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showth...ning-clip-is-on-a-deuce&p=1827841#post1827841

Also, if you do decide to get these, more durable 'clips' created... I'd be interested in 3.

Thanks for your efforts! [thumbzup]

I can get them made pretty affordably it looks like, but is it worth it?

You guys who have the most experience in and around deuces..how often does just the clip and button fall off? On mine, the tapered spring keepers fell off too. Nothing was broken, I reassembled and it's run fine since...a stronger button holder wouldn't have helped though.

From the threads talk not often if the plunger does not stick. Inspect your 03 button for damage before reinstall. If you have to remove the retaining clip for any reason I use something thin and small and try and ease two clips at one time to prevent bending just one tab to get the button off.

Yes it is worth it. If you ever have to change out the Hydraulic Head even once for a bad clip then you would know what we mean ! Considering the newest of our trucks are at least over 3 decades old then those clips will be a failing soon !

Hi David,

Wondering how things are going at this point.

The more I read and understand about this button retaining clip...
the more I realize how critical it really is!

I think they'll be inexpensive enough to make, I'm to the point where I need a sample. I have a trashed pump I need to tear apart. I won't be able to play with it until next week, keep on me if you don't hear from me.
