Wow Nico you are really doing a great job on the truck.

Too bad the US Customs decided to dissemble and break a bunch of stuff. The seats and the door panels did not have any issues.

Sorry about the floor rust. I had never a reason to pull the floor mats back and have a look. I wonder if the windows where left open when the Iowa National Guard had the truck.

On your no start issue I copied your post and started a new thread for you. I posted some things to check.

Great job. How hard is it finding chevy parts over there? They are dime a dozen here at the junk yards.
finding chevy parts is not to difficult over here, espacialy cucv parts
but often too expensive.
it is often cheper to buy parts at the us internet auction and shops like lmc truck...and the ss classifids are great ;-)

What is the brand of the rust treatment that you are using?
Fluid Film.
there was a 3 year long time test in my favorite oldtimer magazine.
about 28 different products.
fat based products are the best. especialy the stuff you had to heat up before use.
here is the test...sorry not in english but the pix are geat also

fluid film is also just 3 miles away from my home.
they are on the us market too as far as i know.
i used
1 liquid a (like olive oil, good for all the folded edge)
2 as-r (like syrup, for the whole body)
3 liquid ar (like honey, for the cavitys, must be heat up befor use)
4 permafilm black (the coat to prevent the fat of beeing washed away and dirt, salt etc.

---> that`s what i thougt. they left windows open in a kind of acid rain. anyway, not your fault.

even if the truck will not start anymore,
there is a lot of work to do,
beside this mayor problem.

installed the sandblasted bumpers.

warthog, when i removed the door sill i found this:

the old batteries where dead after cranking 2 times...new power package.

Repaced the broken door handle.

now there are some electrical issues left...
-there is no rear running light.
-the warning blinker does not work while breaking.
-connect the wire for the already installed foglight to meet the eu standard

the truck did not pass the german tüv...
the dept. is looking after the technical savety of automobiles,
you have to show your car every second year.
i need a new inner tie rod end, the old one was worn out.
the left outer cv boot was defekt and the steering damper was leaking.
there are also some stupid little things i have to change to pass the tüv...
look at the little cateyes under the rear light :cookoo:
i got to stick them on because they have a registation sign that says they are tested...
the delinators are 100x more effective but discussions with the officer were senseless.

i now got a new complete steering assembly:
pitman arm,
tie rod end,
idler arm
and adjustment sleeves,
complete new front cv left
and a new monroe steering stabilizer.
monday 13th the truck should be ready for regestration.
