I can buy starter bolts at most parts stores but on the CUCV diesel I like an OEM if possible. I have 20 new HMMWV starter bolts but they are too long. Sad but true. Just wanted to share this information.
cucvrus, I get that a bolt too SHORT is a big problem. For sure.

But isn't there a way to cut a LONG bolt down to size (cleaning up the threads at the cut)?

I was in search of some OEM 6.2 starter bolts and 6 months ago I could have bought as many as I wanted. Now GM has discontinued them GM part number 15544950 is limited to what dealers have in stock. No big deal but I did buy the last 2 my local dealer had in stock and also the 28MT gear reduction starter support brackets are still available and I purchased one of them. The project Wild Weasel M1009 was without a support bracket and has some severely worn starter bolts. I can buy starter bolts at most parts stores but on the CUCV diesel I like an OEM if possible. I have 20 new HMMWV starter bolts but they are too long. Sad but true. Just wanted to share this information. Your local GM dealer may have some starter bolts on stock. 15544950. Grab them up if they do. Have a Great Day.
Surplus store in Wrightsville pa has them still. Bought a few not long ago.

After many years of bad mouthing brush in DIY bed liners I have one I want to share. This a 2001 Silverado 2500 HD with 300k miles and 23 years of commercial use. Check out the Line X bed liner. Some gouges and cuts but the same as it was 23 years ago. The gate rusted from the inside and the floor held us unfailing. That is what I sprayed in several CUCV s I had. Just sharing when you think you can do it cheaper. It was $600. in 2001. That is just a few dollars and change each month with these results. The truck is ready to be scrapped and worn out. Sun-damage alone you would figure it reduced to dust after 23 years.

I have a 2013 Ram 2500HD crew cab diesel 6 speed manual truck that was sent to me to have the lift kit removed from it. I don't even know where to start. My Son was supposed to do the work. I look at it and wonder if anyone on this sight has a similar truck that they could exchange pictures with me of what has been hacked or added. I think the rear is just blocks and the front coil springs. The front swat bar has some awful rusty brackets to drop the sway bar down. These trucks rust worse than a 40-year-old CUCV on the frame and brackets. Any pictures or information will be helpful. Friends don't let friends add lift kits.
Have a Great Weekend. It is going to be over a $1000. to get this truck back to stock height.

I've done a bunch of kits on those. Some are just a front strut spring change all the way to a front cage drop and new knuckles. Do you have the original parts? Gonna need to know what they changed. The rear could be blocks on top of the springs too...round plastic spacers. Shocks will be longer in the back but might compress down to stock without needing changed. Upper arms could have been changed too...they'll sit out more to adjust camber with the lift. A bunch of these trucks had air ride that failed. Was a small house worth of parts to fix them so getting rid of it was the option.

Yea I don’t know what was added and what taken away. They traded the big rims and tires for a stock set but now they want the lift off. I just need to figure out what that entails. I will continue to do my research. I still don t have to like it. But I will get by with a little help from my friends, Take Care.
