I had the same problem in the past. After a few beer i trialed to start my multi, but nothing. I've searched a lot and after one hour i've noticed that somebody had stolen my steering wheel.

Actually the deuce has 3 filters......and yes it will run on almost anything, however if you are not filtering the stuff BEFORE you put it in the tank than the trucks filters have to do that for you........depending on how dirty the non diesel stuff is the filters will plug real fast(the reason you pre-filter the stuff) I would start with changing all the filters and try again.......There will NOT be anything about this in the TM's cause technically they list the fuels that the deuce will run on and waste "crap" is not one of them......even though they do run it.....from what I gather this is what I think is wrong with your truck.

As to tires....been posted a million times....rear boggies are 48" apart so anything less than that....most common it the 395, or also known as the 15.5......both are 46" tall tire. Any bigger and you run into rubbing.

Where is the fuel turn up knob . That's not in the tm either. I have looked my dash over many times and it's not there. Maybe i have an older version with no turn up knob.

I just wish it would run on anything like it says it will . Multi-fuel bs.

A few years back, Westech actually showed us how to suck start a deuce( at the Haspin rally).

He simply pushed the shutoff cable in, climbed up on the passenger fender, opened up real wide, and put his mouth over the exhaust stack.

After that, it looked like his eyes sank deep into their sockets, his buttocks clenched(very tight), and his ears folded inside out.

One strong inhale and the truck fired up, blowing his lips off the pipe.

He got a little bit of soot in one eye(he said that's normal).

He said it was very important to not swallow, as the carbon monoxide would make you pass out(and you could wake up with your pants missing at the Blue Oyster Club).

He got down, looked around at all the guys watching (with eyes and mouths wide open) and said, "OK, who's next"?...

We all laughed every time we talked to him that afternoon, as his eyes were crossed and he had black lips, but nobody told him.

Oh, and that is NOT in the TM.

We'll it ran great never had any problems. I started using non diesel so called fuels and now it won't run. I mean it's a multi- fuel Duce . What's the deal?

Also do i need a CdL for my multi fuel? And what can I do after I get it running again to make it go at least 70 on the highway? Oh and how big of tire can I fit on it?
!!!!?

While your at it add a pinion brake for a rock crawler and dump those stupid drum brakes. They are waaay too complicated.

That little mazda brake disk should be perfect for the deuce. At least that's what the crawler guys tell me. Should stop on a dime and you get to brag that you have disk brakes.

This reminds me of a going away party for my nephew. He is a Marine being deployed overseas. I took the deuce, everyone liked it. The nephew asked me if he could drive it, I asked him if he had ever drove one and he said sure, lots of times. We gets in the truck and he looks at me and says, " where is the key?" I knew then that I was in deep dodo. It was a wild ride.

There is a limit when it says "multi fuel" but it must be clean. I run sunflower oil and soybean oil in the summer but NEVER after the first of October. It wont flow. To dense.
Check your filters.

Greywolf I cant believe you don't know where to put the key to start your deuce. That is deuce ownership 101. I encourage you to read the manuals but untill then someone needs to take that thing away from you before you kill someone provided you ever get it started again.

Setoyota they are just screwing with you there is no knob to turn up the fuel to make it go faster. There is a lever on the north side of the injection pump (with the truck facing south on a night with a full moon) that you will have to flip over from the s (slow position) to the f (fast position). The diesel engines and automatic transmissions from 1981-85 Chevrolet Chevette's are a direct bolt in motor mounts and all only the rear transmission mount will need some minor grinding for clearance if you ahve a pto winch. They are the only engine that is a direct bolt in for the deuce.

I can't believe some of you guys took this as a serious post.

I have owned a m35a2 deuce 1/2 not "Duce" since 1999. I know a little about how they operate. I made the post because I personally go crazy seeing all of the post here in regards to why my truck is running badly due running home made/ bio/ cooking oil or whatever. I know the trucks will burn lots of stuff but that is for emergency situations when diesel is not available. For most running this stuff eventually will cause problems.

also I get tired of "how fast can I make it go or how big of tire, what's the biggest motor questions Etc etc etc.

I know it's your truck so do what you want with it.

I suppose I just respect the vehicle for what it is. The longest serving mechanized tactical military vehicle in the history of the world.

The only positives I see is that in the future there should be plenty of parts trucks available after these guys who normally would have bought an old cheap pick-up finally discard their clapped out, blowed up old ex army truck.
