In regards to your video (and off topic) what did you use for your strobbing light system? I'm going to need that for work.

"There is no darkness we'll not face boldly for each other, so to hells gates I will charge to ransom back my brother"
I tried to watch but couldn't see. Are you looking for Amber strobes/beacons? If so, I'll shoot you a PM.

Soundproofing a HMMWV?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the point of the OP's post, but it seems to me the truck runs so LOUDLY it pretty much drowns OUT any other noises. Pretty soundproof to MY ears. But they already ring - in three octaves - from working in Aviation environments and range exercises.

Checking the DB Engineering website they appear to be the OEM manufacturer of the soundproof insulation that came on the hmmwv. Looks just like the pieces everyone buys off ebay for ridiculous prices

Drove around with my daughter the other day. She noticed the padding/sound proofing I'd installed made the truck about HALF as loud.

I own a dB meter, should've done before and after. Oh well.

Then we hit an open stretch of road and I ran it up to 55. Still quieter, but "shouting over" quiet, still.

THEN I saw this meme somewhere.

Yep.

I've given the 4-speed/OD a brief thought, ain't gonna happen unless I buy a complete new powerpack for a spare; plan on keeping this truck as simple as possible, adding the 4-speed and two electronic control boxes seems troubling to me.

I'm young enough I appreciate technology, old enough I resent it.

I do sometimes miss my '57 Chevy Bel Air wagon with the 454, 4 speed (?) - but that was over 40 years ago.

simple.

Two electronic control boxes? You're just adding the TCM. The easy/cheap way is using an aftermarket transmission controller. The easy/expensive way is using all of the original military components, including the A2 chassis harness. The hard and mid-priced option is using all the original military components, except doing your own add-on harness.

Has anyone tried Al’s HNR? I am looking at doing a liquid sound deadening and am trying to decide between Lizard Skin and Al’s Heat and Noise Reducer. Any pics of the finished product would be great.
Can you do a top coat of paint or liner on top of the DB stuff?

I used Noico sound deadener. I saw a lot of car stereo people were using it, so I bought some off Amazon to to the cab floors of my M1009. Works great, easy to install, sticks, and conforms without lifting to the compound curves. Although I did cut it in multiple sections to make installing it easier. $62.00 bought 36 square feet. Search this in Amazon:
Noico 80 mil 36 sqft car Sound deadening mat, butyl automotive Sound Deadener, audio Noise Insulation and dampening
