I am going to get a cheap winch and mount it behind the cab... As far as inflation pressure, you can deflate the tire enough, get a "Glad hand inflator" to help when you have to use the spare..1714751784466.png

It would also be beneficial to have a couple of Long tire bars (like a crow bar on hand to help with leverage when you have to remove the blown tire and to help align the new one on the hub.. Similar to these:

Yeah, Wes makes it look easy by himself but in the case of a roadside tire change I've been thinking of carrying a pop out sign similar to the 'wet floor' signs you see but offering cash for some extra muscle to entice someone to stop and help
I know what you mean. I think the part I remembered was once it gets up there you have to lower the chain hoist some so it isn't under tension, hopefully I won't need to deal with it in the future. I brought all the tools I need to do it should that happen.

Brutus took his first trip today and did great. Still some remaining coolant coming out of the heater core but minimal at this point. Truck did great. New speedometer has over 100 miles on it and it's speed matches gps perfectly. Highly recommend anyone who needs a speedometer to upgrade. You won't regret it.

First trip went well. 150 miles and truck did great. I have a leaking gasket for the air dryer, need backup and bed lights installed, Methanol kit needed installing, painting frame, and coolant hose fix. My coolant hose adapter from 2.5" to 2" had some leaks with the alumium flange adapter so I had to adjust it some.
Overall I'm pleased with performance. Definitely a power loss with the 16r20s but it looks good with them on the truck.

As I was about 20 miles from home I was at a stop light and smelled a strong smell of diesel. Decided to keep driving and got it home and sure enough, looks like the injection pump seals have gone. There was some decent drips coming from the pump.

Before I go and use the search Bar, pt pump just unbolts and bolts on right? I don't mess with timing on these pumps I believe? I'm calling premco to see what they would recommend but plan is to have one rebuilt so it's good as new. I'll do some more investigating to make sure it's the pump but I'm 98% sure it's the cause.

Doesn't surprise me, truck is just shy of 40 years old, time for a refresh anyway. In the meantime I have some stuff to work on while I wait on the pt pump.

Does anyone have any photos of their rig they'd like to post up on here?

Sgt. Tibbs is cool, when is he up for SSgt?
Yeah, truck is fairly old, so expect some age related or wear and tear issues, once they are all addressed, with proper maintenance is should serve you well for another 40yrs...

Yeah, I figure with having the pump rebuilt It should last me for the rest of my lifetime. Also, plan to add methanol Injection should help with some Temps on hills.

Did more inspection on the injection pump and turns out the feed line that comes out of pump and goes to the front and rear head was leaking at the flared end. It was cracked. Replaced with a stronger line. Truck fires up and runs great. No more leaks. It was hard to tell after driving because fuel was everywhere after getting home. One problem fixed. Onto the next.

I also mounted the trucklite floodlights on back. Drilled the holes and have them positioned. Will adjust after I get them wired up.

Tomorrow I will run the wire through the frame and get ready to hook them up.

I need to get the tire hoist light bar wired up. Plan is to use an amber light. So it's easier on the eyes.

Ordered the heater core and it came in. Took photos of inlet and outlet and how I had it plumbed. Before it went to filter then Hester core to trap any junk from getting into the core. This caused restriction and not full flow going to the core. Now it's being replumbed so it will go to the core then filter then block. Got a new rubber hose from autozone and switch lines.

It was an easy job. Remove 4 bolts holding the heater to the bracket. They are 1/2" remove electrical line and the pull cable for the air diverter.

Taking out was tricky because of angles of the inlet and outlet angles. Got it out. Removed top 4 Philips screws and boom. As you can see the Hester core was shot. New one is alumium and should work great. Put back together and works like clockwork.

Installed a light bar on the tire mount. I used an amber led light bar because it's easier to see and focus. It lights the bed up nicely and it also can be used as a safety light in bad weather.

I have been getting the truck ready for Memorial Day. Here's some photos with my nephews last week.

Took Brutus to Memorial Day Parade and truck did great. Last few days put 140 to 150 miles on truck and running great. 1 vet said the truck looks so good it should be in a museum.

Big shout out and thank you to all of steelsoldiers members who serve or have served for protecting our rights and freedom.

Since Memorial Day I have gotten to take Brutus to 2 car shows. I also made it to the 4th of July Parade today.

I had an alternator issue. The one I put on started to fail with 500 miles on it. Got a new one from Napa this time. So far so good. I also got the methanol kit installed. My buddy helped me with it. Don't notice any power gain or egt temp differences. I'm only using a 3gph nozzle. Will look at increasing the size of the nozzle. Before I do that I will turbo the truck.

I also got a fuel button #27 from premco. The engine originally was shipped with a 30. When taking out the idle plunger, there was a 32 in there. So either the pump was rebuilt and someone put a smaller one in or someone swapped the pump out for another one. Going from a 32 to a 27 was a nice fuel bump. Little more power was a nice increase to see. When I do the turbo I'll play around with a different fuel button. So far truck is running great. Next step is to add the sound bar for the cab and I'm also dropping the trans pan to replace the filter and gasket.

Installed the new air dryer. Works great. No issues.

My nephew is obsessed with the "big truck." Everytime he comes down he runs to the garage. Gotta start em young.

Back in July I had the privilege of being apart of escorting the vietnam wall to the staging area and being behind the wall as a "guard" while my father in his m35a2c was the "guard" for the front. Only 2 military vehicles there. What an honor and experience. So many thank yous and waves. It was something I'll never forget.

Installed new pan trans filter and flushed the amsoil out after 700 miles. Put new amsoil in with a new cat spin on filter. I also installed a new CAT coolant filter and CAT water/fuel seperator and new fuel filter. The water/fuel seperator was about 1" longer than the wix and the fuel filter was almost 2" longer. The fuel filter is a 2 micron filter. Other photos are just taking Brutus out and stretching his legs. Next upgrade will be adding a turbo and helping drop overall egts.

I know very well Brutus is a guntruck from Vietnam. I wanted a m54a2 but couldn't find one. This is not an attempt to do the same thing with a 900 series. I just liked the name and felt it was fitting.

Not to bash what you have done, you are doing great things... The designations are eg. R120P (Primary) R120T or R120S (secondary) The "P" filters are 30 micron down to 10.. The "S" goes down to 2 micron. They are spin on and high flow...
