I am trying to get my wife interested in the helmet top, but she does not seem so, maybe time for a new wife!
Funny, Long before we ever had a HMMWV, I bought two of these at auction (don't ask...)
My wife thought she could build her HMMWV one part at a time.
She wasn't doing too bad of a job either. We had all kinds of parts. But we traded most of them to get her prototype Mutt (M161). That was about 7 years ago I think.
Now I got two darn HMMWVs, and no helmet tops.. Go figure.

M161 prototype Mutt? Is that a typo?

This is one of the few left in the US. Not many were made to compete for the contract, and most of those were shipped to central america, or destroyed.
Almost all the parts are M151A2 surplus parts. This was what the contract was all about, utilizing the massive surplus of mutt parts.
Alas, they were doing this the same time that they changed over to diesel and automatic transmissions. So they are just that, prototypes (this version is not the one that got the contract anyways.)

What type of wheels do you have? I’m relatively new to HMMWV ownership and wanted to stay stock as much as feasible but I’ve seen those on a few and they look sharp.
Those look like Black Rhino wheels, nice but I prefer wheels with real bolts

It was a soft morning on the beach today.

There were some serious anglers though, the guys with the Kayaks fish the first and second sand bars, these guys had inflatable motor boats and personal watercraft, they haul their bait way out!

We did our last official ride for the year. Fall foliage tour to World's End State Park, PA. 4 of us went, 8am departure and were back home at 4:30. We did 170 miles and had a picnic lunch. Was raining at 7 am but stopped before we left and there were only a few sprinkles of rain throughout the day. It was pretty cool when we ate lunch, used the heater about 1/2 of the trip. All trucks ran well and we had a good time. The colors were not very bright this year but with all the rain and warmer temperatures, this is to be expected.
