painting over carc

I was reading some older posts in this thread about hazards of stripping paint using physical methods (wire wheel, etc.) I recently stripped two bumper extensions which were in rough shape with multiple layers of paint but also rust in multiple places. I stripped them down outside using an angle grinder and wire wheel. There was a breeze to carry most dust away. Am I going to die of cancer or silicosis? I'm only partly kidding.
It didn't smell great when I was grinding but I figured I was outdoors and no big deal. I'm done having kids so the lead isn't as big of a concern.
P.S.. I primed it and then painted with Rapco 383 green and it looks great.

Airborn carc dust is BAD BAD BAD how long since you sanded it? you will be the first to know if you got too much your lungs will be soar to breath .Y OU HAVE GOT TO WEAR GOOD RESPIRATOR ! And the rapco 383 is great paint i shot my truck last fall 4 parts paint 1 part laquer thinner came out great i put 5 gal of material on mine going to put 5 more when it gets a little warmer out.
It was about one week ago. I would say my lungs feel fine. Maybe I lucked out due to the fact that I did this outdoors with a little breeze and it was just 2 parts but it's just 2 parts. In the future I'll wear a respirator mask with filters

Thanks - I checked out the videos of Raptor lining and saw the application gun - this looks like the way to go, though I don't have a paint booth. Hopefully I can apply this outdoors on a less windy day. I plan to undercoat my JLTV trailer and spray the bed as well. Dan C.

I'm over in the FMTV forum, but noticed your Lizard Skin usage. Are you happy with the results and did it make a big difference. Lizard skin is what I had intended on using in the 1st place, but started to get lazy and thought about just using Dyna Mat. Now I'm kinda leaning back toward the Lizard Skin, both heat and sound deadening formulas. Unfortunately as nicely as they drive, these LMTV's have so much cavernous space inside they sound like a big echoing tin box with sand shoved into the joints.

I watched a few videos of the Raptor Lining being shot outside. Certainly doesn't have the thickness of say Rhino, but if you're painting over CARC, seems like thinner would be better. I'll be curious to see how it works for you because I wanted to try this over my bumpers and a few other parts.
I’d love to know if your “only power washing” method has held up over time?
Unfortunately it’s only the interior- I want to spray the whole exterior of my humvee

It’s held up very well in the interior. I don’t know what other liners are out there. I will say Raptor is a 2 part component mix. Meaning you mix a hardener with it. I wouldn’t waste your time with any rattle can “bed liner”.
Oh yea I was looking at Raptor brand. Or perhaps Durabak as they have a smooth option.
I was mainly asking about your prep - I’d love to just power wash the carc paint ha
