What is the function of this? Would it stabilize the missile to be handed to the gunner above?
Missiles are to long to pass up through turret whole. they I believe were passed from rear hatch opened from the top latch and pivoting on the lower pivot points. Think rumble seat on old carsThe T&E mechanism mounts/stows there.

I think that mounting point was where the TOW launcher was stored when in transit. As I said, "I think" this is how it worked. I hope someone who served can confirm this.View attachment 869935
