Some Background on the Cub and Boy Scout program in North Georgia. I got involved in a local troop in 2009 when my oldest crossed over from Cub to Boy Scouts. Our Troop is one of the largest in the North East Georgia Council with over 80 active boys and 40 adults supporting the program. Our Scout Master has been leading the troop for 28 years and has accomplished getting over 500 boys to the Rank of Eagle Scout. A tremendous achievement.

On Saturday the 26th is the Boy Scout Show and Camping for the North East Georgia Council. Troops from the whole North East will converge on the Fairgrounds for scout skills, learning and camping. These are wonderful and exciting events and we have the opportunity to help boys in their growth from boys to men. In addition we might influence some of the to get into the madness later in life!

NORTHEAST GEORGIA COUNCIL

The Northeast Georgia Council was chartered by the Boy Scouts of America in 1935 to provide Scouting programs in twenty-seven counties. These counties included the twenty-six counties currently served along with Newton County (now part of the Atlanta Area Council). Beginning in 1916 there was a council based in Athens and 1928, one in Gainesville. These councils merged to form the Northeast Georgia Council.


After years of phenomenal growth in the northeast Georgia area, our council now serves more than 25,000 youth in Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouting, Venturing, Exploring, and in-school Learning for Life. Three camping facilities (Camp Rainey Mountain, Scoutland, and Camp Rotary) and two service centers (Jefferson and Lawrenceville) support the youth members and volunteer leaders. There are more than 600 scouting units throughout the council.

Swiss - It might be wise to have a coordinator for parking at the DZ - remember we cannot park on ONE of the neighbors grass directly across from me - nor on the other half of the Ga Power line - that is personal property as well as my half is (but we also have behind the tower as well to park).

Folks have been doing a great job to date - but with more units coming in it just makes sense now - might have to hold this elsewhere next year - will just have to see.

Seems like Andy is keeping in touch with you both so I will just leave it alone - great job so far to help the Scouts.

Units - MDMorgans have not chimed in - and they are not much for posting anyhow - but I am thinking they are still planning on coming with some NANNER puddin.

I plan on making it to the cookout, but with how work is going, I'm not sure how long I'll be able to stay. We have a massive go live starting April 1 that will last the month. We just don't have the schedule made up yet. Just didn't want to commit to the scouts and then possibly have to cancel.

Zout, that got me thinking.... Any MV games scheduled? Which wrecker can sling an old appliance the longest distance. Tire changing races (to be timed by sundial).

AHHH - its a COOKOUT. Its at my residence that has lots of room for comradre - room for vendors to sell their goodies before the real MV season beings. Its in a subdivision - it has no HOA (I am a semi smart fella).

Any games that anyone wants to volunteer up for under these conditons are more than welcome - I was going to have a pickup bed filled with ice and have a wet t shirt contest for a couple years but Deb got wind of it and put the kabosh to it all.

I am kidding folks - this is a family orientated cookout - with kids - wifes - GF's pets under control fund for everyone senario. Besides - last time I tried the ice trick was on our farm back in Mich when I held a WHOLE COW roast - still did not work.

What can you do: Bring a dish to pass if you can
Bring some munchies if you cannot being a dish
Bring yourselves if you cannot bring anything anyhow
Bring folding chairs if you can for yourselves (I do have extras)
Bring your own drinks (I will provide ICE)

RAIN OR SHINE EVENT FOLKS - I do have canopies to site under and can access a couple more if needed - if you have yours to set up by your trucks - go for it.

I will have a handicapped porta john on site this year to help out as well - try to get this on the drive in between the power line and house for ya all.

Come and have FUN and visit with folks - that is as hard as it gets.

Ron, you have Ferro in position 13 and in charge of convoy maintenance. He needs all the luck he can get. You want to move him up to position 7 and make sure position 6 is carrying a lot of tools and spare M37 parts, and position 8 is a winch truck?
