Well, it does say it runs well and can be driven anywhere.

Holy &^%!

I believe this is his truck. Its an expired eBay auction link but you can view the pictures, thought it would be helpful to visualize it.

Jeep : m35a2 Jeep : m35a2 | eBay
That's the guy I bought my truck from.... Yeah he's not the most knowledgeable on maintenance.. He was selling both mine "bobber" and that one at the same time.. Got mine first and only had to go 40 miles or so.. then the brakes locked up.. But it is an old truck.. My fuel filters had allot of water in them, you should check those too.

You got yourself an old truck.. go through EVERYTHING! And as DH said start with the brakes!

Good to know where my truck's sister is.. ha ha. Here is an original pic of my truck next to the same barn..

I cannot stop driving, if there's somebody along the 78west-81south route please call me so we can attempt to sort out my problem. (207-812-8166)
If you have a contaminated fuel problem, the truck will take care of - "I cannot stop driving" for you.

Lots of good suggestions in this tread, you need to find a place to work and take action on some of them. Fixing the fuel pump, draining the tank (and cleaning), and changing filters are all jobs that take the most basic hand tools you can buy anywhere if you don't have with you. It's the type of job that I wouldn't do myself, but I would send my 15 year old out to do (this job has SOLDIER B written all over it).

Get the pump working, drain/clean out the tank and be ready to swap filters all day. Easy stuff.

Your other choice is to pay $$$$$$$$$$$$ to a shop.

Good luck.

I am starting to feel really bad for this guy, the guy he bought it from didn't do much maintenance on mine, you are probably getting the truck in the same condition as you would from a GL auction.. He was a nice guy no doubt but you need to look over everything on these trucks.. To attempt a trip that far on a truck you just bought is nuts.. Perhaps this thread needs to move to the Chaplin's Corner for some prayers.. I do hope he makes it and will say some prayers myself for his safe trip..

I would love to see how much a shop wants to clean the fuel system.
Soldier B will clean mine and change the filters as long as I keep the cable TV and high speed internet lines running to his room.

Other shops will probably want MORE.

This seems like the type of job someone could easily do in a Walmart parking lot.

I also think maybe we should get a thread section for like "911 MV down" or something for emergencies for people on road trips or recoveries. it would be nice if You could also presubscribe to the section so that when someone post a new thread everyone gets informed by email instead of having to check the road trip section or something cause some of us might not go into every section or hit the new post link very often.

Just a thought.

There has been something like that, in the works for a long time. Perhaps the new admin will finish it for us eventually.

For now, this has been working fairly well. You would not believe the PM, and phone calls that go on when a thread like this shows up.

There are alot of people trying to help, behind the scenes and posting here in the forums.

Yeah, I have had at least 12 PMs about it, with plenty of texts and phone calls.

In the end, you can lead a horse to water...
