glad your on your way kinda.. its hard to be so far from home and with no tools get hammered down.. we all need to check our trailers to see if the bearing and wheels and tires will hold up under what every we are hauling long distances. and always bring a tool kit

When a vehicle breaks, you put it on a stretcher and tote it home. What to do when the stretcher breaks?

The load made it from Columbus Ohio to Crusher's where more stuff was added, then to Louisville for the show. Afterward, we went back to Crusher's for MORE and it made it almost back to Louisville.

Those little bearings impressed the heck out of me.

It really surprised me how miniscule those bearings are/were. I am amazed at the load they supported.
That's why my civy car hauler trailer has a spare set of bearings in it's toolbox. I've thought about upgrading the axles. But really, I should just sell it and get a longer trailer with better axles.

Not that it matters now that does explain something. I thought they were headed to Ohio and not back down to Louisville. I didn't realize they had already done the Ohio pickup.

As Clinto and Dawn's business grows, I see a possible upgrade in trailers. That trailer will make a great local trailer or light duty unit but it would probably be wiser to have a second trailer with #6000 axle or better. Hopefully the business will support the upgrade. I can tell you this, renting a U-Haul one way can be painful. I'll be doing it in a couple of years.

What is it with bearings? In the last month, 3 people on SS have been bitten by bearings. SW Bradley(front wheel bearing on Dodge) EMD567( RH inner bearing on M105), Clinto, wheel bearings on a car hauler.

Both Ferro and I learned about bearings the hard way coming back from Haspin. Got to have a complete set of bearings for everything going down the road. One set of 5 ton bearings, one set of M105 bearings.

And the worst thing is, I already knew the bearing rule. My father taught me that lesson, one day going to the lake, when the inner bearing went on our boat trailer. I can still hear him now "son, always carry spare trailer bearings with you".

And my case I changed both even though only one was bad and I had them give me the old one back. Same one for either side so now I have an old spare. ;-)

Before Georgia I'll have spares for the M101 too.

I don't know about clinto, but I think many people max out their trailers, then drive over the designed speed limits. How many people tow at over 60 MPH, maxed out?

I have, had a wheel crack out and depart a couple months ago in OH, wasn't maxed on weight, just speed. Just got 4 new tire/wheel assemblies for it. Bearing will be inspect and packed.
