On the lower hose, I set the radiator on some wood shims about 1-1 1/2" thick and fight that weasel lower hose on, then pull the wood and let the radiator set down in place in the 2 holes, has worked for me twice. Hope this helps.

Drove mine to Cici's pizza and the shooting range this weekend, got lots of looks and questions about it. Couple pictures taken in the parking lot with kids crawling on it hahaha.

I'll ask my friend, he took a short video while I was driving. The pictures of the kids were taken while I was eating. Looked outside and saw two little kids sitting on the driver side step with their parents taking the pics.

I changed the oil in my front differential. I used Super Tech GL-5 from Wal Mart. I had to do it because my drain plug was leaking and I wanted to stop it. So far it looks dry. I also went for a few short drives. Next up for me is zipper boots. I'm reading up on it now. I also have new fuel hoses on the way. All of mine leak.

Just got my zipper boots today from Erik's. I was able to get the old ones off and everything cleaned up decent before it got too dark. I'll finish it up tomorrow. I went ahead and bought new clamps too. I did have to cut the old bolts to get them apart. The old ones were non-zippered. They were so rotted and brittle I could poke my finger through them.

I asked my son to come over and help me. With an extra pair of hands We were able to get it clamped on in five minutes!

Mine was full of holes too. The inner clamp was not too hard, but after four hours of struggling to get the outer circumference of the boot to stay on the knuckle long enough for me to clamp it, I finally gave up. I asked my son to come over and help me. With an extra pair of hands We were able to get it clamped on in five minutes!
When I replaced mine a few months ago, I found that one of the boots (outer side) was loose and took two sets of hands and lots of colorful language to install. The other boot was a tight fit and I was able to install it by myself in half the time. They are zippered boots also - didn't use new clamps.

I have to admit to using some colorful language myself. I actually told Brutus I was going to trade him for a B-61 Mack if he didn't start cooperating with me.

The zipper boot install was a bear. I used the clamp method and still had plenty trouble. I had a tough time even getting the inner clamp on. And the new clamps I got are JUNK. They got all twisted out of alignment very easy. One of the darn screws broke, necessitating a run to the hardware store. I ended up re-using one of the old clamps. Finally after about 4 hours of fighting I got them on. I'm not impressed with the quality of the boots themselves either. Have a feeling I'll be doing this again sooner than later.

While I was laying under the truck I noticed a coolant leak. Looked like it was coming down from behind the oil filters. Looked like the little short rubber hose that goes to the oil cooler. Crap, have to pull the oil filters to get to it. So, I do that. Then I fight with that little rubber hose and finally it comes off. OH NO:shock: Much more coolant than I anticipated in that hose, now it's running into the oil filter bases! Mounds of paper towels later it stops flowing. Then I decided to replace the other 2 little short hoses. They all look the same age and are cracked. What a PITA to get those off and get the new ones back on.

I guess now I'm doing an oil change too. I'm also doing a cooling system flush because so much ending up leaking out, I might as well. Flush and flush, not too bad looking. A little rust coming out, but no gunk.

I decide to put the oil filters back in. I'm going to order spin-ons and I'll change them out when I get them.

Start up the truck to try to circulate some clean water and check for coolant leaks. Watching the oil pressure rise, the suddenly it drops to zero. It shut it down quick and go and look and there's about 2 gallons of oil all over the grass and covering the left side of the engine. Darn canister was not setting on the gasket right!! Now I have to make an emergency run to store to get some floor dry for the Exxon Valdez.

Two more hours of cleaning up oily dirt and floor dry from my yard. I'm done! I quit. No more today. I wished I would have just stayed in bed today.

I do believe you mean that you were gonna trade him and cash for a B-61. Man, they're pricey if they're nice.

Well Steve, this one has been sitting in front of a trucking company for six or seven years. The paint is faded and the chrome is beginning to rust. It has not been moved and a tiny pine tree grew up next to it to be about 12' tall. It's pretty straight body wise and the interior is clean and not restored. It's a duplex 10sp. I may try to talk them out of it if I can get a good price for my house which will be for sale shortly.

I decided to test out my zipper boot install by driving my Colt Python to the pistol club for some practice. I took a different route. Without thinking I drove smack dab into a hilly neighborhood right at the time dozens (I kid you not) of kids were walking home from school. I got a few waves, some wide eyed looks, and tooted my horn once. It was kind of fun creeping up and down the narrow streets behind school buses. My turbo was whistling to beat the band. The boot worked great and I shot okay. Not great.

I bought a new motor for my dead truck. Ordered a few parts and longed to drive mine again.
Yeah, I guess "bad day" is all relative. Hope you're up and running soon.

So I drove an hour to Wal-Mart and bought lots of oil and Anti-freeze. Funny note, they had Rotella in 1 gallon and 2.5 gallon jugs. When I figured out the cost per gallon the 1 gallon jugs were about $.25 a gallon cheaper. Weird.

Drained out what oil was left in the truck and put in the new stuff.

I flushed the radiator some more. I pulled the T-stat housing to get as much flushed as possible. After a lot of water it was coming out really clear. Replaced the upper radiator hose too while I was at it. I let all the water drain out for quite a while. I buttoned everything up and started adding anti-freeze. I added 1.75 gallons of straight AF, then started 1:1 AF to distilled water until full. Ran it with the cap off for a while to get the air out. Then took it for a short spin to get it up to operating temp to open T-stat. Hoses were really hot so I guess it was flowing. Let it cool and opened it up to check it out.

Good news is nothing is leaking right now.:)

Bad news is, there must have been a lot of water still in there somewhere because when I tested it, it only reads +10F. And it's nice and rusty colored.:x I guess I should have run it for a while with just water in it, then flushed it again.
