Okay so we had a warm day a bam it works, so what's the fix? We were going to send this truck north and this will be a pain up there.
Sorry about the late response. I installed the valve body heater that came with some of the trucks and that fixed it to the point, were it only took about 5 to 10 minutes for it to start working. (about the time to get all the air tanks pumped up)
I can look, might still have one of the heaters, if you can't find one locally.

I'll bobtail home if I pick it up. We are planning to use it to tow a lowboy to haul our equipment around. I already have a m931 but it doesn't like the hills we have around here pulling a jd 750. We have a line on a lowboy and dump trailer. Plan on taking the 5th wheel and ramps off the m931 and mount it on the m920 since it accepts a civilian pin minus the spacer. Plan on putting an 8 yrd dump on the m931 for onsite hauling.

A video, when you have a chance, would be awesome.

2" to 3.5" Kingpin converter

As a M916 has a 3.5" Fifth wheel - does anyone know if there is a bolt together, split, addapter collar that can size up a 2" Kinpin to 3.5" on a civi trailer for occasional use with a 3.5" Fifth wheel ... available in the US?
King Pin addapter.jpg

This would be an alternative to swapping out the Fifth wheel when owning both sized trailers.

It's quite possible that this is not DoT legal - but untill I find that out, I will persue this idea...

I must of missed that one. This auction that may or not really exist you get the boat, trailer and truck. It may also have a starting bid of 100K.

You guys rock...

In Post #86 I believe Sir Soni suggested he was going to start another thread.
Did indeed that happen and if so can someone link me please?
I am a few years after you guys and a sponge at that.

Give me a little time and I will handle the M916 noobs! HA!
(I resemble that~! )

For those whom have not seen it, here is a pic of the T/C Drain Screen Tee deal
spoken of herein some time back. It is poorly illustrated in the TM.
This will tell all. There is one plug not pictured here, I had to order up
a 5/8" Allen Wrench for it, expected arrival tomorrow.

The T/C takes 2 quarts of 80/90 thru the top
5/8" Allen port on the DS and 3 Quarts on the PS.
I believe it said to fill the DS first.

TC-bottom-screen-drain.jpg

My truck arrived w/ the 1/2" T/C pump plate installed so I assume this
actually disengages the pump, bypassing the T/C's radiator. I need to reverse
this but the gaskets called for in the TM seem to be made out of unobtainium. Are they a special
gasket for a thickness (or) , or can I just use Permatex BLACK?

Lots O rookies worked on my truck at UniCor. The JIC fittings are Teflon Taped!
The air fittings under the dash are barely hand tight!

The CAT hole in the floor was covered over w/ floor mat.

The DIFF LOCK IN/OUT light had one wire not connected.

The ETHER light had one wire not connected.

(I seek and ETHER, CL LMPS, and WASHER Dash Lights )

I need a part number to get Halogens, I would prefer Truck Lite LEDS
w/ heaters but I assume they are $400 each or so.

The wiper motor's exhaust had the tiniest of mud wasp nests in it.
New blades in route. The control valve inside? EVERY AIR FITTING
was leaking. Hardly better than hand tight they were...

Cigar lighter was disco'd.

I have a "new" CAT trans coming, I may be installing it. The truck
hits all 16 F and 2 R gears but the lower gears hit HARD and downshifting
hits hard too.

I installed Jim's Filter Regulator Mister trick.

I await some air tool oil and a gage for the Parker units
and I will fill up the reservoir on my new oil mister
AND dump a can in the rear PS hose and go drive it again, this time
making sure the RPM's are over 1750 before I upshift and 1650 Down, and
see if I can't wake up this tranny. It wants to slam into lower gears, if I had
to guess, kinda like the clutches are fried or something. I am a total noob w/
these trucks so I know not what to look for.

I precision cut the floor mat and exposed the CAT hole access plate and pulled
it and all wires are connected. I saw one breather cap missing, I thru on an
ACCELL tini air Cleaner for now.

The truck looks new, engine starts right up.

There was no rear window, I found a window used and just today
I think I found the last NOS rear window gasket in the world.

The Outter Air Cleaner hold-in thumbscrew device was missing,
I found one of them NOS, batteries were gone, two Sears worked.
Rear mud flaps were gone, BETTS got me covered w/ OE type units
back there.

A seat belt was never bolted down although all parts were laying there.

I need to pull the 5th wheel ramps, pull the 5th wheel riser and get a 2" plate.

Fun!

If you turn the front wheels all the way to one side, you can access the U joint grease zerk.

Just remember to do this with the engine running or you'll have to clean up a power steering fluid mess like I did.

Matt, I don't get it, did you manhandle the steering wheel w/ the engine
off and did it cause a burp or something ?

But thanx for the tip!

gpp111 you can shift two gears at a time up to tenth gear said:
Just read the thread again and it been awhile. You can skipp as many gears as you want buy pulling up on the shift handel. I can go from 6th to 10th to 14th to 16th by like I said just as you pull it out of one gear lift up on the shift handel.

I had the front wheels off the ground. Without the power steering pump running, I think it builds pressure where it wouldn't normally and that fluid comes out of the filler cap.

When shifting into 16th gear, at highway cruising speeds, a red light flickered in the top of the dash gauge, the one for speed and engine speed. What does the light indicate? I was about 2000 RPM.

Are you speaking of the vertical idiot lights?
If so I think they are, starting at the top;

Eng Oil, Eng Temp, Diff Lock Out, PTO, Park Brake, Hi Beam
