Ok, just read every single page on this. If I am to understand this correctly the govt wantsHemtts back so Oshkosh can rebuild them for more service...
if this is correct then why is there two up for auction
Where? The ones that require mutilation?

GL sells them as "Scrap" to get around the rolling stock contract to GP IMHO.

Lots of "scrap" trailers and trucks have been sold in La this year like that.

The reason is simple....

"We the unwilling,
Led by the unknowning
Are doing the impossible
For the ungrateful.
We have done so much
For so long
With so little
That we are now qualified
To do ANYTHING
With NOTHING."

I heard that called the Government Workers' Creed.

Where, did the auction already get pulled? I looked at every vehicle for sale and didn't see any HEMTTs.

Oh, GL scrap... Mutilation required. Sad.

They have always done this. It is also not them who determines what is scrapped, the gov't does. At one point, those trailers may of had sensitive equipment inside. The Gov't doesn't care if the equipment has been removed, they still consider it sensitive.

I don't make the rules, I just try to understand them

Sounds like a way to get an aneurysm.

None of the La scrappers required destruction/demil. Sold as is with no sf97 available

Most trailers were m200 trailers with gensets, some m101's and m105's, bunch of m809 tractors, wreckers, m911 tractor, m925, M936, all terrain forklift, and all flavors of cucv's.

I agree that it makes no sense and no rhyme to the reason ;-)

Some times stuff is sold as "Residue" with a restricted title. These are usually trucks (or used to be) that have been heavily damaged (roll over, jackknife, etc) and they probably felt were structurally unsafe.

Typical government thing it sounds like.

When my dad worked for BLM they would move fences for cattle grazing, as little as 10 feet. However when they moved the fence they only reused the fence posts and even then that was rare; barbed wire, wire fencing, electrical fence wire, etc. were all tossed into a heap at the station that never got reused. Even when adjusting fence heights (for different grazing animals) they would be told to pull all the wires and then put new ones at the correct height for whatever animal was being contained. Of course they were teens and 20-somethings who just moved the current wires and threw the new ones into the heap. Because in all honesty when you are 20 miles from anything resembling a road building a fence who (EDIT) is going to check it and make sure you switched the wires from old to new???

The point of that story is the govt. makes bad decisions and in-explainable ones at best.

My guess is in 3-6 months we'll have information on the fate of privately owned trucks.

Did I want one? Yes. Will I be getting one now? Probably not.

THEY ARE BACK!?!?!?!?
Right now, go to govplanet and search "Oshkosh" and you will see a HEMTT for sale :jumpin:

What it weird is that if you search "HEMTT", it won't come up. I suspect GP found lope hole. Look how it says nowhere in the description "HEMTT"
