Deuce Brake Pedal Pressure with 395's

The truck was rebuilt in 1990 and got a short air pack installed at the renewal. I am guessing the lines were replaced at that time since they do not look badly weathered and are not soft. I suspected the air pack was a problem but did not want to tear into it until I had it confirmed that I...

Deuce Brake Pedal Pressure with 395's

For those of you that have installed 395/85 R20's on your deuces, how much brake pedal pressure is required to stop the beast. I have installed 395's with run flats on my deuce and now I literally almost have to stand on the pedal to stop her and I don't think I could lock up the wheels if my...

    MEP002/MEP003 Hours

Jim, thanks for the response. I have read several of your threads and gleaned much information from them. Johnray, I understand that there will be issues that come up. I can handle those things much more easily than a full rebuild, not to mention finding rings and other rebuild parts. I love...

    MEP002/MEP003 Hours

How many hours can I realistically expect to get out of a MEP002 or MEP003 if it is maintained regularly? I understand that they were overhauled at 5000 hours. Is that a realistic life expectancy?

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Changed the oil and installed JT spin on filters. I hope they work as well as people say. :-D

Whats up with my deuce's wipers ?

I had the same problem with my wipers when I got my truck. I pulled the motor apart and found the wiper shaft was frozen in the housing. Some PB Blaster, patience, and elbow grease and it came free. I cleaned it well and greased it up and it has worked wonderfully since then. Good luck.

    shift pattern?

When unloaded I use high range and gears 1-5. I've tried starting in second but it is a bit hard on the clutch so I don't do it unless I am on a good down hill, and I mean a GOOD down hill.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Replaced the oil pressure sending unit and now have a good oil pressure reading. What a relief. Also mounted the batteries well and solid. She is now ready for the road.

    Low Oil Pressure

Final report. I installed the 60 PSI sending unit today (thanks Erik) and went for a drive. 55 PSI at cruise and 20 PSI at idle, both hot readings. I am a happy, and relieved, camper. Thanks all.
