I'm trying to figure out how the Cold Advance "doo hicky" works on the Injection Pump...
Just had my Injection Pump rebuilt (I went with O-F-I out of Eugene Oregon).
After installing the Injection Pump, I plugged my block heater in to help warm up the motor and oil so that when I cranked it...
RND-MS, THANKS FOR THAT...
Westech, I know I could probably spend the 30 minutes pulling up the TM and tracing it out -- but there are so many 1009 owners on here that sometimes it's better to ask, . chances are someone has dealt with this already and knows exactly what the issues are...
M1009. Lights come on (key on engine off) as normal. Since I have the motor torn apart waiting on Injection Pump rebuild - is there an easy way to test the sending units for these lights?
I KNOW I have had this thing overheat before... Was blowing black smoke for 20 minutes up a 4,000...
Civy model (not CUCV) will fit but DOES NOT have the breather... The breather is part of the CDR setup on the CUCV... I think someone said it was a "backup plan" in case CDR clogs... (not sure...)
However, the CIVY model filler cap works on the oil tube- it just doesn't have a vent - so check...

I got mine from 1800-radiator... They get mixed reviews, but I use my truck as a daily driver and after 3 years in the mountains (-10 to 30* in winter and around 50-80* in summer) it hasn't given me any trouble at all.
Radiator was like $229 it is STEEL and not cheapo plastic. It was an...
Source for injectors???
Thanks for the heads up on the chinese parts... I had read about that in a few other threads...
Are there any reccomendations for shops which rebuild injectors??? I would do it myself but I don't have a bench to flow test them or test pop pressure.
Looking for a...
Hey thanks for the suggestions. I will NOT be adding a turbo (at least for now) -- So maybe I should stay away from the Marine Injectors?
My goal was to make my truck run smooth and sound right --- While it was running smooth anywhere above 5-10mph, it had started to sound like a can of...
During my quest to have the injection pump rebuilt, I noticed I should probably replace my CDR valve... When I disconnected the hose from oil filler neck from the CDR valve, about 2 ounces of nice blue diesel oil came pouring out of the valve (hey at least it was CLEAN oil;-))
I remember...
I agree... for $100 it's worth it - even at $300 (if you have to pay him $200 to do the paperwork)...
On a side note, that same thing happened when I bought my M1009... The tread separated from the tire when I test drove it after towing it home!

Thanks for the reply... And for the recommendation.
I think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned only wanting to tear it down once... By no means was it overwhelmingly hard to remove the pump - but it was very tedious and time consuming. I couldn't agree more that the shop I pay...
AND WHO IS THE MOST AFFORDABLE AND REPUTABLE REBUILDER? I am getting pretty frustrated with conflicting information from 1 rebuilder to another. I am willing to mail the pump out for rebuild - I just want a quality job using the correct specs when it comes to bench flowing for specs.
Im...
I just pulled my injectors, and the injection pump planning on having them rebuilt... Then doing some research here on the forums I saw suggestions for turning the IP up 1/6 turn and adding Marine Injectors.
I found out that stock M1009 injectors have a popping pressure of like 1900lb and I...
I did NOT do the test "wet" as that would be cheating :)
I suppose there might be more lubrication about when the motor is running, but I had it warmed up pretty good when I ran the test (left it idling for 20 minutes just prior to testing).
