Civy truck to MIL trailer wiring info

To me it sounds like a grounding issue or maybe a connection with corrosion / high resistance. When the engine is running there's enough voltage to "force" the issue. The issue could be in the trailer OR the truck.

Civy truck to MIL trailer wiring info

Depending on what you mean by haywire, more likely the wiring. A bad ground, a short, a break or a crossed wire will give suboptimal results ;) The harness is simple enough. Also, zip tying on a generic harness from Hazard Freight will give you a cheap, temporary solution if you need the...

Civy truck to MIL trailer wiring info

The stock 24v bulbs will work on a civilian 12v system. They will be slightly dimmer than they ought to be but they're plainly visible.

    Cookout at Zout's

If only I was just 500 or 600 miles closer... I love BBQ... Eat plenty extra for those of us too far away to come!

Do you need a CDL for a 5 ton

So let's say I get a CDL and drive a truck in a legal configuration for my state. Now I drive through some state with different local regs that would make my CDL/truck configuration illegal there. Am I legal or would I have to be in compliance with each state I pass through? Does this change...

    Support@SteelSoldiers.com HACKED?

Nobody invited me to any revolution. They just called me a coward [cry] Just some clowns doing the computer age equivalent of throwing bricks through windows and placing flaming dog poop at your door and ringing the bell. Hopefully the owner will get ahead of the problem if he hasn't already.

    New Score!! Stackable Army Cots!!

I'm too old and creaky to sleep on the floor, so I cheat. A twin size mattress fits perfectly between the wheel wells (on the M101) and forms natural " bays" forward of the wheels to stow clothes, sleeping bags and what not. I have the canvas (pic in my avatar), which makes a better/tighter...

    annoying questioneer

FWIW I've seen it several times, only from Google search and only when searching SS. I generally use Chrome but I saw the same testing with IE. I've not seen it occur with any other website. Pressing <backspace> (or clicking the back icon) and then re-clicking the google link, the redirect does...

    Welding on a vehicle

I'm writing to you from the ER of my local hospital... (just kidding!) By and large the operation was a success. At least it's a good enough repair to pass inspection and bide my time till fall and possibly do a more extensive floor replacement. Thanks again to everyone for the advice. The...

    Welding on a vehicle

How about batts of unfaced fiberglass insulation? eta - As M4L says and I should have mentioned, the gas tank if just aft of the place I'm welding. I wouldn't have bothered asking if I was further away!

    Welding on a vehicle

I need to repair the driver side rocker on my M101 tow vehicle, a '91 Dodge 3/4 Ton, 5.9L, 4x4, HD susp., regular cab, long bed. I know I need to disconnect the batt before mig welding. Will I explode if I don't drop the gas tank, too? I'm hoping to make this a morning repair, not an all...

    poor mans HEMTT

Hot Rodders section and channel cars - why not a fire truck? Make it fit just within the limits for street, dimension-wise and weight-wise. Use the bulky steel parts to mold fiberglass repros so you keep the look, and sell the scrap metal to compensate the cost of the project.
