    MEP-531a

Sasha Look at Generator Field manuals on this site for MEP-531a. ( TM 9-6115-673-13&P) Section WP 0165 shows aux fuel system construction. I did this and it is not difficult.

MEP002 no power to starter solenoid

You mentioned earlier looking for something simple....is it possible when changing the motor that the batteries got connected to the starter incorrectly? It is easy to do. Worth a check.

    MEP-531a

I have used canvas/ vinyl outdoor furniture covers for MEP-003A and MEP-0i8. Military canvas covers for smaller units (MEP-015 and commercial small diesels) I found on big auction site.No military surplus suppliers seemed to have any. Found several that fit MEP-531 perfectly on Flea bay..

    MEP-531a

Nice set. I have two that are also "new". You might check last part of TM that shows how to fabricate an extended auxiliary fuel supply for this generator since only runs about 3 to 4 hours on set tank supply.

Mep 003 cranks but will not run. not a fuel problem.

Unclear on importance but by jumping TB5-8 to TB5-9 isn't the safety feature of S4 (oil press)and S5 (temp) being modified. S4 looks like it should be open to run???

    MEP002a IP problem

Had somewhat similar problem w/ MEP-003A when pump was reworked by commercial shop. The old O ring had stuck to the block so rebuilt pump with new O ring was out of tolerance. Might want to double check.

Another newbie with MEP002A questions - gauges and oil pressure

Interesting! Sure acted like a 5KW. Not knowing the history of the unit , someone may have swaped the boxes.

Another newbie with MEP002A questions - gauges and oil pressure

Here is a photo of my MEP-002 prior to me replacing CVT1 . Use of color coding wires was helpful in getting it all back correctly.

MEP 002A Unstable Voltage Then No Voltage

Recently spent several months troubleshooting a MEP-002A that would make very high voltage power when ACVR disconnected but not flash or show voltage with ACVR connected. Double checked everything many times. Had previously put in take off transformers T1,T2, Load Current Reactor, CVT, CVT1 and...

    MEP-003a NAPA fuel filter

Had this same issue on two MEP's. I was able to cut cork gasket material into shape of large "washer" / gasket to provide spacer to close size gap for NAPA fuel filter.

Glow plugs replaced and now hard to start?

I am a little confused on the interlock device. Does your system disconnect from the utility power grid with the disconnect box installed outside (pictured) or is there a interlock / transfer switch installed on your main panel inside?

    Time to connect the 803

Agree. The "weeping" was unexpected. Supplier gave me a second new 16 gal drum which also "weeped" at the bottom factory seal. Must have something to do with the product the supplier was placing in drums(grease). Important info here is that the solution was turn full drum upside down ,clean...

    Time to connect the 803

Because of limited space and difficulty moving large fuel containers, I have used smaller (16 Gal.) metal drums. My understanding is that long term storage of diesel fuel is best accomplished in full metal containers to mitigate chemicals leaching from the container and to lessen moisture...

    Frustrating Acceleration Problem

You have certainly been through in pursuing this problem. My M151A2 has been cantankerous at times in a similar way. I found that no fuel was going in through carb (engine would run w/starter fluid spray only) . Blew some compressed air into intake side of metal fuel filter at carb and it...

    MEP-003A CVT1 compatible with MEP-002A

Expect several SS members have exchanged parts between MEP-002A and MEP-003A. I am aware there is a list of common parts. Unsure if anyone has swapped CT / CVT1 (transformers) successfully. The T M indicates NSNs are different but manufacturer's reference/part number are same for CVT!. The CT's...
