    GL Lost Surplus Contract

GP sure has figured a way to get top dollar out of stuff, I don't guess you can really fault them for that. The stuff that is selling above retail though, can't hold out forever. I know we all griped about GL, but their incompetence is what kept prices down. After you dealt with GL awhile, you...

    M1000 Trailer

Agreed, just for hobby piece or hauling legal loads, it's way too much trailer. There is no way I would even think about a M1000 if I didn't need one for it's capability. Also, every job it will be used on will have lifting equipment, so hauling it to the jobsite won't be a problem. A...

    M1078A1 -10 Technical Manual

I think that TM is listed "not for public release". If that's the case, you can't post it to the site, and release it publicly, against the government wishes. I know lots of us have TMs labeled "not for public release", but it's a big difference having the TM for personal use, and posting it...

Deadly crash with 6x6 on SR193 in Clearfield, UT, USA - 10/15/2018

Heck of a hit to do that much damage.

Is this an M38A1 or just a CJ-5?

There are a few military CJ5s out there, so that Jeep could have in fact been in the military. It could have also been a CJ5 built for some foreign military and re-badged with US markings. As far as I know, it's not some "M" series US MV.

    M105a2 advise

That could still cause you problems, depending on how the front trailer with the shelter is balanced out. You just have to make sure you have enough weight in the front of the front trailer to counterbalance the tongue weight of the rear trailer. If you don't account for this, it will make the...

    M105a2 advise

I’ll just offer this advice, if you tow M105s double, put about 500 lbs in the front of the front trailer. You do that, they will tow fine. I have no idea if it’s legal or not. You see trailer dealers doing it all the time, towing new trailers from the manufacturer.

    DOT vrs Standard Nylon hose

I had a return line blow out in the Lowes parking lot one time. I did get some of their cheap tubing to fix it until I got home. You are correct, the big box store tubing is a different dimension than the DOT tubing, but will work in a pinch, if you also use the matching ferrules. Anyway, the...

    whistler turbo sound

I've seen some brand new turbos that had quite a bit of shaft side play. I don't know what the measurement is, but it's quite a bit just going by feel. My rule of thumb is look all the way around and see if you see any scrape marks on the housing, or if you can force the fan to rub the housing...

    M1000 Trailer

Well, the first part is, I don't have a 1070. I do have a truck to pull it, but until it has several wheels and tires replaced, and get the APU running, it's not going anywhere on the road. Judging by the pictures, it also looks like there are several hyd line leaks, and it looks like the APU...

    M1000 Trailer

I’ve been out of the game awhile, last EUC item I got was through GL. GP is telling me it may take 2 months now

    M1000 Trailer

Thanks, I’ll check on that. I’ve already talked to a crane company, and one crane is going to be twice what the wreckers charge.

    M1000 Trailer

It’s in Texarkana. It will have to be hauled in, it’s not currently road worthy.

    M1000 Trailer

Well, I’m now the proud owner of a M1000 trailer. Now I’ve just got to figure out how to get it home.

Air gate for military dump trucks

Easy enough to do, I've done it many times of civilian dumps. 3-4" air cylinder should do. Just make sure that the cylinder linkage still retains the "over center" action of the tailgate linkage. If not, park it loaded and the air leaks down, your tailgate will come open. I've seen this happen...

    S-280 camper build

Well, I’ve been camping in my S280 for a couple of years now. Only thing I’ve really noticed is a 8k btu A/C is about the bare minimum for one of these. It cools it fine but it takes a long time to get it cool after it’s been sitting out in the sun all day. My first routine was to fire up the...

Cargo Bed Dump Conversion Hinge Designs

Here is the first dump I did- https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?50583-Started-my-dump-conversion&highlight=dump I used 2" square tubing under the frame rails. One reason is I wanted to reinforce the frame rails (cargo beds have light frame rails compared to purpose built dump beds)...

    Big rear winches

I'm looking to add a rear winch to my military Mack RD822sx. I've got a M936 45k drag winch already mounted on one of our civilian KWs and it's not very handy. It's just too slow, especially paying off cable. I'm wondering if one of the winches off of say a HET works better? I've never used...

M925 M925A2 dump bed hoist install

That's basically what I did on my deuce dump. I used a old set of troop seat standards and bolted a swinging tailgate (that I fabricated) to the standards. I thought I had a pic but can't seem to locate it. I've got it where I can swap back to the factory tailgate by just removing a couple of bolts.

    Going to Florida

The main thing is that you be part of the rescue instead of having to rescued yourself and become part of the problem.
