When you buy the McMaster Carr ones, you will find they are longer on the threaded side than stock. I couldn't use them without cutting them down to match the length of the female threaded part of the stock (plastic) ones. Otherwise the linkage is too long and the engine wont rev to full RPM.

Some of the m116 have fewer leafs in the spring packs. Mine had a tag of the drawbar to this effect and had a couple less leafs than my 101a2.

I am no radio expert, but since the RT524 can use a 6707 base and the 442 is just the receive side of the 524, I dont see any reason you shouldn't be able to use it. You would use the same cable that connects a 524 to the 6707. I can get the cable ID off my set if you need it.
