I love what you have done to your lights! I would like to do the same thing with my trailers. Please let me know where you got the parts, what the part numbers are, and if you don't mind, what (if any) modifications did you need to make. Inquiring minds what to know !!! TIA...
Thank you for the ideas. I considered using electrical tape as well. It was also suggested that I use a non-adhesive wire loom tape. What do you folks think about using a non-adhesive loom tape?
Hello all... Today I removed the rear wiring harness from my parts deuce. It has a couple of damaged connectors that I will repair but it seems to be in good shape overall. The wire wrap however, is really brittle, stiff, hard to coil, and in some places has broken and peeled. The wires...
The NSN for this kit is 2530-01-388-4240. The MATCAT code if F2200, meaning it is a stock funded item, and can be procured at the unit level. Although purchased at the unit level with Class IX funds, it could only be installed at a depot maintenance level.
NDT... Thank you for pointing me in the right direction! I found this add-on kit in TM 9-2320-386-24P, Figure 120 (+). I think I will put this on my daily driver. I have no idea how to bench test it, but I will figure something out. I haven't been able to locate a rebuild kit yet, but I am...
A while ago, I purchased a deuce for its parts. I have been slowly removing parts and pieces, cleaning and painting them as I go and putting them in my "Parts Room". While working on disassembly, I noticed this critter attached to my steering linkage. I studied it for a bit, following the...
So far, all the line nuts that I have seen seem to be steel. I can't remember ever seeing brass or copper line nuts. The few on the lines that I have removed from my truck seem to be in good shape, although covered in OD Green paint.
I checked the website for FedHill. A 25' coil of 5/16" is $106.95 and a 25' coil of 1/4" is 89.95 (not sure about shipping costs). I figure I can reuse the nuts on my existing lines rather than buying new ones. I also think I can clean and reuse the brass connection blocks. As soon as I can...
His post is exactly what I was referencing when I mentioned the Sticky Notes. I have printed his post in put it in my "Brake Book Basics". I was leaning towards replacing my brake lines, but I wanted other opinions before I jumped. There is so much knowledge here I would be an idiot to not...
Howdy all... So, I just finished rebuilding my long style airpack and am itching to install it. However, while rebuilding the airpack, I noticed that some of my brake lines were choked with unidentifiable stuff that could be rust, sludge, goo, or who knows what. I am wondering if there is a...
I have no idea how many different style/model/types/ or aripacks there might be. I am only familiar with two of them (Long and Short). My spare parts truck has the short style. My functional truck has the long style, which is what I just rebuilt. I hope I did it right and that it works properly.
Again.... I am chagrined! If I could just learn to RTB (read the book) I wouldn't have to ask so many foolish questions. Apparently, the TM will tell you which lubrication you should use and which parts to lubricate prior to reassembly. Apparently, I need to learn to read about the entire...
About ready to start reassembly of my airpack. Is it wise to put it back together dry or should I lubricate the rubber parts with a thin coat of DOT 5 brake oil? Thoughts anyone???
Thank you for your reply! I kept working with it and I was finally able to remove the Control Valve Piston (Yeah!). Once out, I used my tiny wire brush and some WD-40 to scratch at the bore. I tried my fingers and some crocus cloth, but no such luck. I kept moving forward with the...
Hello all...
For brevity, I have renamed the Air Hydraulic Cylinder Assembly to "Airpac", which is, I believe, what most folks call it. I have the long style airpac on my truck. I ordered a rebuild kit for it from Erik's (PN 8345007) and received it right away. It took me a while to get...
