M35 (and other MV) Roadside Assistance list

I'm going to put together a list of people that will volunteer their help if needed. All I ask is for three pieces of information, via PM: 1) name 2) location (city & state) 3) phone number (home or cell) 4) e-mail (optional) 5) if you want to include any special notes, I'll include those too...

Fixed! Carnac is broke down!! Needs help!!!

While I can't help, this may spark something that COULD help someone in the future. What about a list of names, locations and phone #'s of people willing to offer their services should someone be broken down? On an Oldsmobile website I used to be a part of, they maintained a similar list.

I'm looking at moving the fuel tank too. I beat the **** out of my tank offroad.

Jerry can mounts on bumper of Winch truck

I ordered a few small stock parts (rear main, filters, etc) from them about two months ago and shipped pretty quick.

Anybody want to buy a KIA - like me!

Assuming a $40k sticker price in 1970, it would be about $220k today.

Anybody want to buy a KIA - like me!

With the prices the surplus trucks are going at, I'm sure there would be some sticker shock if Kia actually gave a retail price for their trucks.

Anybody want to buy a KIA - like me!

It's a blessing in disguise, having Korea re-manufacturing our trucks. There should be a new supply of replacement parts instead of having to rely on NOS parts that are 40+ years old. Kia is to the deuce what Year One is to Camaros, lol.

Just because they don't leak and they stop does not mean you are good to go!!!

The only reason these vehicles got the rugged reputation is from the overly redundant PMs military trucks receive.

    Roll bar

I do agree with Elwenil though, it will take on a Mad Max like appearance if a well designed ROPS is installed. You MIGHT get away with less, but do you want to chance it?

    Roll bar

I do some fairly serious off-roading in my deuce. I'm worried about low-speed roll overs more so than "high speed".

    Roll bar

4x4 tubing with 1/4" would be bare minimum IMO. If a deuce goes over, there is a ton (well, several really) of momentum... even if it's a slow roll over. Be sure that your head will be below the imaginary line from the top of the ROPS to the top, front point of the engine. If you don't have a...

No power EGT's up there HELP

This is similar to the problem I'm having. I have not checked my air cleaner though, I guess I need to check that. It's about the only thing I haven't done. There were several suspicions of my IP timing being off as well.

The lift looks good and beefy on the truck.

dual 52" tires on a single axle deuce

I have thought about doing something like that. Only I want to keep the truck the stock length. Essentially just remove the front rear and make a longer drive-shaft. Then, put it on some 46" or 53" tires. There's a good re-power in there somewhere too.

    Low power culprit?

The first couple of times, it was just down the road and back. The last time I had it out was quite a trip, probably 45 miles one way and back. A combination of highway and back roads driving. That is when I really started getting concerned.

    Low power culprit?

Is that something that can get out of adjustment on its own?

    Low power culprit?

I changed all three filters already and the fuel in the tank is new. I put additive in the old fuel to "freshen" it up before I drove it the first time.

    Low power culprit?

When I first got my truck, it was a runner for a non-turbo engine. I could easily hold 55mph on all but about a 10% grade. A few problems hit me at once and the Deuce was in pieces for about a year. Now that I have it together again, it can hardly get out of it's own way. Forget 55mph, I'm...
