Bill,
Make it late in September, you can road trip them up to the Camp Grayling Color Tour, test them out on the trails for three or four days, then ????
No, not a bullet hole. These trucks were never tested for combat, just transport. That is probably a hole from a wrecker boom or tow bar. May have been parked to close to the back of another when the support leg was lowered or something.
Smokey---when did you have that truck? At Fife...
More than one M1031
Again, collected from e-bay or elsewhere
Please note, especially for the shop trucks, IIRC from my engineer unit, the model M1031 is actually the chassis, with the shop box tagged as "Shop Equipment, Contact Maintenance, Truck Mounted" or SECMTM.
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: FREE DEUCE....
So, Kenny, a military deuce modified to build mountain roads with a side dump instead of a back dump is not rare or unusual? How many mountain roads have been built with military deuces since the M35 series came out. Sounds more like a...
RE: Re: RE: What does my van weigh???
At least he didn't come out with "you guys gotta buy this OR ELSE" like other people have done.
Generally, I think most of us have had to decide at one time or another if something was worth the effort to sell it, keep it until it rusts into the ground...
Some pics
These are from 1995. The two at Winer's in Akron, and the restored one belonged to a guy named Jim Welty (I think?) at the time. The road to the Medina show was narrow and hilly IIRC, with large trees on both sides. Would have to watched the Pacific meet up with a lesser vehicle on...
I too, would love to buy one or both of these guys trailers, but I have figured out that I am not a big truck/trailer kind of hobbyist.
However, I do know that a van trailer like this one would make a GREAT display unit for a museum operation to take a rolling exhibit to schools and other...
It's not just the Air Force, either. There were a couple of these at Ft. Jackson when I did basic in '86.
Does this have a 24 volt system, or standard 12?
edit:
By the way, I don't think they were ever given an 'M' number. They aren't a "tactical" vehicle, and not covered by the ordnance...
Not the V300
I've never seen the covered headlight tunnels or the exhaust on the LEFT side like that. The LAV has the same looking exhaust setup, but on the right side.
Here's a promo pic of the V300 I got from Cadillac Gage a few years back.
pic from wayback
Detroit PD got at least one V100 Commando in 1968. This pic was in the Free Press sometime in the spring, kind of a "we're gonna be ready" promo. Coulda been Spring of 1969, don't remember which year was the first riot, 67 or 68. This was the following year, anyway.
