The Graco is an "airless" sprayer, it uses an electric pump so you're not hooked up to an air compressor. There is an adjustment on it that is essentially the same as adjusting the amount of air from a compressor...if you turn it down too low, you get streaks (not good) and if you turn it up too...

Got the back half of the '09 primed Friday and Saturday. Using rattle can Rustoleum primer and it seems to be working out really well. I don't think your switch has anything to do with it blowing hot/cold intermittently. Have you checked your fluid level in the radiator lately? I had the same thing last year on my work truck, found a small hose leak that had drained the radiator down...replaced the hose, filled the radiator...
