Pick a manufacturer and a year, stamp it on the data plate then fill out the SF 97 form with that info so that everything matches. You will need the SF 97 form and a verification at the DMV. If nothing matches then you'll have to get a CHP inspection also.
Miltoy, are you in the Lake LA area? I remember a few years back a goat was stolen out of there and joyriddden out in the desert. It was recovered and reunited with its owner. Would love to take a ride in one.
I almost bought a surge coupler for mine while at the scrap yard a few weeks back. They had a few laying around. Then I thought about having to swap the axle and adding brake lines etc and decided to scrap the idea. I think its just a bolt on replacement.
When I titled my bobbed duece I did it as historical so there were'nt any weight declarations. I bobbed it first before registering it so there was no changing of the classification from 3 axle to 2 axle. My last truck had 3 axles and I originally registered it the regular (commercial) way and...
Got my seals here. BEARINGS & SEALS Great service!! Still using the stock valve stem pipes, just used a 3/8" brass 90 degree elbow with regular automotive valve stems, looks a little funny but I couldnt figure out a better alternative.
One of my wheels leaks down to almost nothing after a few days (doesnt even register on the guage) and the tire does not look flat but just really low. I have the factory bead locks in all 4 wheels. I just bought 4 new O-rings and plan on replacing them all when I get new tires. One of my wheels...
It is only a little easier in tight parking lots with the air assist. I paid $1300 for mine but it came with a good running winch truck attached to it. No way I would pay more than a few hundred dollars for a kit otherwise. It does sound cool when manuevering around but quickly drains the air...
Sorry to hijack but Heckler, I have one that I will be listing on Ebay shortly, just waiting to complete the Registration and get the pink slip, its only a 250 though, not 650 like Sarge's.
I just checked mine on about 180 mile round trip and only got 9mpg running at max rpm 95% of the time (which is about 62 mph with 14.5's). I'm sure if I slowed down to 55 it would improve a bit.
When I got my current truck with the air assist, there was a shut off valve on the firewall that was turned off. There also needs to be at least 60 psi before the safety valve will open allowing the air assist to work.
I often think about selling mine after seeing what they bring in on Ebay but I just dont have the time to do another, too many other projects. Plus I love it!
AV Truck and in Equipment has them or at least they used to. The shaft needs to be cut down a little and it needs a coat of spray paint to get rid of the chrome. Their number is 661 945-6788. I think it was about $20 per handle.
Good looking towbar. They are an added piece of mind in case of a breakdown, you can call a friend instead of an expensive tow company. It will more than pay for itself after the first use. You can cut out a couple of pieces of steel in a smaller diameter on the lunette and weld them on each...
