I can't really notice a difference in ride over stock tires. It doesn't ride bad at all though, except at about 60mph it tends to vibrate some. I think that has to do with the run flats. I'm fixing that this weekend hopefully. Handling is great, and being able to drive the same speed as everyone...
No lift and No rub. Even took it offroading and didn't scrub. I just bought new wheels though, and the steel spacers I have in the front are going in the rear so I don't feel like I wasted my money lol.
Yeah spacers are needed in the front like what has been stated earlier. I bought my spacers from wheeladapter.com. I bought the in between dually steel spacers. They are very heavy, but stout. I'm sure aluminum ones are fine, but I plan on putting a lot of highway miles on my truck, and just...
I took the truck out today and got it up to about 65mph. No death wobble, but it did start to vibrate pretty good at that speed. It was almost as if it was trying to death wobble, but a little bit different. I still feels like it might be coming from my wheels. I have an opportunity to buy...
I got it about an two hours ago lol. The death wobble is cured though!!! Made some awesome progress today. Got the tires balanced. They were so far off. It took 3 lbs between the four tires to make them run true. Rebuilt the king pin and preloaded it with one hardened grade 8 washer on each...
I am trying to rebuild the driver side kingpin, but the cap wont come off at all. The bolts have been removed? I read it's supposed to pop up already??
Any pointers??
So I think I decided to install two Hobb's pressure switches on the governor test ports on the passenger side of the transmission. I will then run these switches to a toggle switch (master switch) in the cab. The pressure switches will only be activated when the toggle switch is in the on...
Nice truck! I like that flat black. I don't mind going under the knife. I actually already trimmed, but I want to smooth the edges out. The reason I'm going with the 4" lift is to fit the 5.9 Cummins. I think it can be done with out the lift, but the cross member is really close to the front...
Yeah I decided not to go with the Allison lol. I should rename this post 5.9 Cummins and 47rh. After everything I have read it seems like a very good choice. I don't plan on modding the motor, but if I did the 47rh it can be easily made to withstand a modded Cummins.
The only thing electronic...
Alright, so tomorrow I am going to attempt to cure my death wobble. I have the kingpin springs and bushings (along with washers), the moog steering damper (I replaced some of the hardware it came with with grade 8), and the local tire shop is expecting me.
Hopefully, this wont take too long...
Alright so after a little reading I found that some people have put the 47rh behind a 5.9 Cummins using these kits:
Dodge 727 Transmission Swap to 518 Transmission from PATC, 46RE 47RE 48RE
Does this sound like a good option? I'm guessing I'll just need to buy the non deluxe version PATC kit...
Yeah I read that the np205 will be on the correct side. It seems to the most popular. If I understand correctly it will bolt directly to the back of the 47rh. And I don't plan on modding the Cummins at all. I just want a powerful stock engine, be able to cruise at highway speeds, and just have a...
Haha I forgot about that! Once I sell my bike I'll be hitting you up. I read something about Hobbs pressure switches and what not? Would that be a reliable solution?
I am still pretty new to this, definitely have never done a swap before lol. So how would the relays and switches on the...
Alright so these 47rh are a little hard to find, but that's ok. I just need to be patient. However, I do know that the overdrive is electronically engaged through a three-pronged solenoid right? What do I do about the overdrive? Is there any way to wire it into the truck, or mechanically bypass...
Yeah I wasn't too fond of the Allison 545 after reading up on them. I was looking at the 1000 2000 or even 3000 series, but I'm really liking patracy's idea! I forgot about that transmission all together. I was looking at putting on a 3200 rpm governor spring. I think all of that together should...
I'm liking this idea. I tried to find the over drive ratio on the 47rh but got lost a little bit lol. So any idea what my cruising speed would be with the 5.9 and the 47rh along with 37's??
So apparently Destroked makes an Allison 1000 stand a lone controller for $1599. If you find a heck of a deal on an Allison transmission it could be an alternative to gear vendors. I have seen Allison 1000's as low as $900 with 34,000 miles on them. Not bad.
What would it be like to have an...
