    1008 speed and MPG

Would this be cruising speed or top speed? Nice build by the way! Can't wait to hear what it does on 42's!

    700r4 swap into a M1008

I just want to make sure I have this right. I am working on getting everything I need for a 700r4 transmission swap. I just need to make sure I buy the right parts, as I am still learning. So, I have a 2wd 700r4 out of a 88 Silverado. Is this the complete parts list?? -diesel governor -TV...

    12V Conversion Question

Thanks! Can I get the manual from this site, or should I just goggle it? Also I want to double check something concerning the 700R4 swap. It doesn't matter what year that transmission is does it? Such as an 88 Silverado 700r4? Thanks again!

    12V Conversion Question

haha sorry dstang. Actually my transmission is already slipping real bad, so I guess this would be the time to make the swap. I have another question. My gas gauge keeps floating like it can't make up its mind how much gas I have in the take. It occasionally reads about right, but 90% of the...

    12V Conversion Question

Thanks guys for the response! I am following the roscommoneqipment link. That's what I was referring to, but could think of the name :-(. I have a couple of reasons to do the conversion: air conditioning, spare alternator, auxiliary battery, simplicity, and parts are cheaper and more readily...

    12V Conversion Question

I just bought my first M1008 for $2300. The odometer reads 39,000. The interior is in ridiculously nice condition, with no rust or tears in the seats or dashboard. All of the weather seals are good. It needs a good oil change, and for all the other fluids to be checked. I have some plans for it...

    Deuce tires on the CUCV???

Putting a suspension lift aside; can you even put 395's, or 46.5" tires in general, without breaking something on the truck while driving it? I just though that F250 looked very interesting lol.

    Deuce tires on the CUCV???

Wow that looks really cool. What it going to be your highway speed now?? lol.

    Deuce tires on the CUCV???

I know this thread is a little aged, but I ran across this the other day. You might not even need to lift it to put 395's under it. Just remove the bed of the m1008 completely and trim the fenders as far as you can get them. You'll end up with something like this... Ford F250 with 54"...

What is your cruising speed with 37's?

    Storm Chasing

Are these for sale? You have so many of them lol.

    Storm Chasing

I have done research on different options that are available to make the m1009 drive train more sturdy, but still keep good speed. How about this? Switch the axles from an M1008 to the M1009. Trim the fenders or do a 4" lift in order to accommodate for 37" HMMWV tires. I've read that the...

    Storm Chasing

I have seen videos of people cruising on the highway around 72 mph in the m1009. Does it cruise that fast with stock running gear? I'll have to do some research on the overdrive transmission. Any idea what transmissions could match the 6.2l? I'm guessing there will be an adapter plate of some...

    Storm Chasing

Haha thanks guys for all the info. It's a lot to take in, but very valuable! I do have a lot of homework to do. Let me mess with these gear calculators.

    Storm Chasing

If I took a 3/4 ton axles out of a suburban with 3.73 gears, about how much do you think my cruising speed and top speed drop? That was very good info.

    Storm Chasing

Haha you are probably right. I only saw one for sale and it was the rear. Seems like the Dana 61 is pretty scarce. But I appreciate the input. I'm definitely looking around for different axles and gear ratios that will fit my needs. I just really like the highway speed of the m1009. I'm sure...

    Storm Chasing

I was doing research on axles and came across a Dana 61. Apparently they have a 3.07 gear ratio. Would this be a good swap for the stock axles of the M1009? Is the Dana 61 as robust as the Dana 60? It seems that the only difference between the two is that the Dana 61 has a bigger gear housing...

    Storm Chasing

I love the ideas that are coming through. This is the reason I started this thread :). idM1028 I have heard of the 12V conversion, but not the one you mentioned so that is something that I am going to research ASAP (sounds more simple and effective). I would like to be able to set up A/C from a...

    Storm Chasing

I appreciate the responses! Jimmy I would love to purchase a Ford SVT Raptor lol. Maybe in the future for sure. Storm chasing and storm spotting are compliments of each other. You predict and chase the storm in order to spot a potentially deadly situation, and then report it to the NWS, or the...

    Storm Chasing

I figured a military vehicle would be a good platform to start planning around. The deuce was an ambitious project I'll admit. I don't have the funding to transform the Deuce into an MRAP vehicle. Storm chasing vehicles range from Kia Sephias to the armored vehicles you see on TV. I am...
