Before you even start it make sure the fuel tank is clean. If it has oil i wouldnt change it until you know its a good operating unit. Also make sure the air filter dosnt have a mouse living behind it. Oil, fuel, air..becids any obvious thi gs i would start it and load it.

Nice features you have there and great idea with the old 100lb propane tank. Did you find much rust in the propane tank? Two things. A metal cover for those outlets is $3 at homedepot and solder on any 120/240v wireing is not good. When wires or the outlet heats up the solder melts.

O man that dosnt sound good. Your getting the engine starter to turn the generator side but not the front engine pully? Could be a missing/broken key in the pully, broken crank or just a stuck belt making it look like the pully isnt moving.

Just checked the schematics FU1 is in the 24v circuit so just a regular agc 30a fuse will be fine. No slow blow nessary. Two of my units have a 30v agc30a and one older set has a 125v 30a fuse thats not glass.
