I have one and use it as backup for my MEP-003. Have used it once or twice over the years to run the house. I need to pull the baffles and replace the return oil hoses.

X2 what Cuad4u said. In all the winters around here I have never had the intake valve in the cold position. Never any problem with hard starts or smokey running from unburned fuel. Mine does not have the ASK so yours should stay even warmer running in the winter. 2cents

Correct. There is no check valve of any type in the original Olympic pumps. Can't say about the newer Parker pumps.

Here's my 2cents. It's you vehicle so I would say it's your decision on what to change or keep original. If I had that nice of a example as you described I would tend to keep it as original as possible partly because so many are customized to fit the owners needs or wants it's nice to see how...

My $. 2cents , Starting from Indianapolis I usually take I70 east to Washington Pa then I79 south around Morgantown WVa to I68 east which runs right to western Md. Much nicer road than turnpike and no tolls.
