Ham Radio Operators / Steel Soldiers

Well I spent a few weeks reading through the ARRL ham radio license guide and doing the online tests at several sites and sat for the Technician exam on 10/12 and scored 100%. Now on to the General....

Frozen rear ujoint - tricks to freeing it?

Nothing to fancy. A plain old butane/MAP torch will do. Heat it just enough that the plastic starts to ooze from the injection holes and you should be able to drive/press it out.

Frozen rear ujoint - tricks to freeing it?

Just a thought. But if that is the original “U” joint than GM used a injected plastic to lock it in place. A dead give away is the fact that there is no internal or external clip to remove. The only way to remove them is to heat each ear of the yoke enough to soften the plastic and press/drive...

    Spindle studs.

I used these when I redid my front hubs. Perfect fit. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RNB-675-070/

    rotating safety light

I'm with you there. It would be like putting a strobe on "1Adam12"..

Winter storage ,keep the critters out of the cab.

So far so good with the peppermint oil. I need to go get a fresh bottle. I have found that different brands have a very different strength.

    rotating safety light

Thanks for the link. I think I'll get an extra 1 or 2 just in case. I just like the rotating style beacon compared to the strobes. The strobe style lights remind me of a kids Christmas toy. To each their own when it comes to light choice.

    Problems with "new" MEP 018A

Glad to be of help. Hope you have a keeper and don't need to pour much more into it. As these units hit the 40+ years old they do tend to need more and more TLC. There is a certain “cool” factor to these old units compared to the Harry Homeowner new stuff but there is a point where you just have...

    Problems with "new" MEP 018A

You can use 2 - 12 volt batteries in series or 1 - 24 volt battery alone or 2 - 24 volt batteries in parallel. Either which way you go it uses 24 volts.

Sorry for the goof. I changed it so we should be good.

    MEP-003a CVT1 markings?

Yep you are correct. I wrote it down correctly but then typed it in wrong. I'll fix that.

    MEP-003a CVT1 markings?

Well here is a crude drawing I just did. Hope it helps.

    help on pyro,boost and steering.

Here is my 2cents. I adjusted my fuel so no matter how hard I run I can't get above 1250deg. The boost never seems to get much above 10~12psi but you have to remember that the military added the turbo to reduce the smoke from the exhaust not really to increase power output.

What color paint brings the most money?

As a buyer I would pay more for a good quality 3 color camo paint.

    Today was a great day

Always is a great feeling when a plan comes together. You tend to look like this when behind the wheel..:D

    Transmission shaft question

I believe that there are one or two pieces that might need pressed but any local shop can do it quick and cheap and no reason to pay shop labor rates to pull it apart. Also a good reason to add to the tool collection if finances permit. I had to pull the engine in my pickup to replace the piston...

Newbie M35A2 owner. Looking for local friends.

    Nice looking ride. Congratulations.

    Transmission shaft question

If you have a decent set of tools and know which end of the screwdriver to hold you shouldn't have any problem. They are just a synchronized manual transmission with ever so slightly larger parts than a pickup transmission. Download TM9-2520-246-34-1. It covers the disassembly and reassembly of...
