    MERDC 4 colour for a M1009

Here's a pic that I've been playing with. One of these days I'll give it a try! While I've never seen a good pic of a m1009 in MERDC, I have seen one of a HMMWV.

    Will not run

As it sits right now, gravity is holding the push rod against the cover plate. You'll have to take ff the cover plate, take out the rod, put a dab of grease on the end, put that end back in the block, put sealant on the plate, then put the plate back on. The grease will hold the rod in the...

are the right ones for the brush guard?

Wish I could help more, but I haven't a clue what they should be. I do know that I've pulled the heads off carriage bolts from the hardware store, while working on wood projects. The bolts on my front bumper/ brush guard were rusted and took way more work to get them off than they should have...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Changed out the fast idle switch, starts better now. Tightened the belts, no more squealing. Changed out the fuel filter. It's a good day when everything works the first time!

    Tires for M1009

I've been running Firestone Destination A/T's for the last 7k miles. I don't do a whole lot of Offroading and they're pretty quiet for an "all terrain".

M1009 bumpers pita to remove...6 hours...

I had take the front bumper off my M1009 to swap engines......PITA!!! Soaked them good with Penatrol, put a vise grip on the head and a impact wrench on the other. Time and words prevailed! Don't know if it's right or no, but I went back with grade 8 hex bolts. Those I can deal with if needed...

    Goat soft top install

Any pics of what you're having to work with? While I've never messed with a Gamma, I did once have a Mutt and the leading edge of the canvas doors had a tube which was drawn, top to bottom, through a channel on the vehicle. Hope this helps!

    my 09 pic

Nice rig!! I took my m1009's top off last week to replace the weather stripping, but had to put it back on before it rained a couple of inches. If it didn't rain so much down here, it would be off more. We had to tun on the air conditioning in the house a couple of weeks ago!! Nice bike riding...

    Thingy by the coolant bottle??

The black lines attached to this "sample valve", route engine oil through the radiator for cooling. There are a couple more lines nearby that cross to the right side of the rad., that route the trans oil through the cooler.

wiring connections for a civilian trailer on a M1009

The diagram Mistaken1 mentions is the one I use the first time and it worked great. Later, still using this diagram, Worke up an adapter using a spare military trailer connector, again, worked great. If your blinkers are working but alternating from the tow vehicle, that's a grounding prob...

How to know if my 6.2l is running as it should

http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/19311-ip-timing-does-seem-too-retarded.html Check out this thread, #7 post for a pic of the marks. Mine were difficult to see also, but after a light cleaning and looking directly down on the top bolt, I was able to see them. I think my m1009 runs pretty...

How to know if my 6.2l is running as it should

With just 135hp and all that steel, they ain't no sports car. I've never put a stop watch on anything that's off road capatible, so long as they do 0-60 in the same day. If you haven't checked your IP timing, you might try that. I lined my witness marks up, while some put I a hair to the...

    M1028 starter relay???

I feel your pain! Last time I messed with the starter, I had it up and down four times. That's why the reduction starter is a spare and not the direct drive, I just couldn't stand taking it off one more time! Glad to hear you're back on the road!

    M1028 starter relay???

Let me know if you need a replacement starter while or if you are rebuilding yours. I've got a spare reduction and can help with the DogHead relay mod, I've done mine.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Replaced the weather seals on the hardtop this weekend, plus went ahead and snaked wire for a dome light in the front and cargo area. Getting it off was easy enough, with gravity's help. A couple of pieces 3/4" PVC conduit placed across the bed really helped slide the top back into position...
