MV of the Month November 2021

Thanks Tracer. I've had it for 20 years. It brought me in to this fine hobby. Because of this truck I have made the best friends a guy could have. I got in for the truck, I stayed for the people I meet. Everyone here is on that list...

    Asking for a friend

While on the 2021 MVPA convoy, we stopped at the John E Kuenzl museum. They have recreated Brutus and Lil Brutus. Both are Viet Nam Gun trucks. We had the privilege of talking to a veteran that served on Brutus. If you want stand next to a gun truck and perhaps have an opportunity to learn from...

    M1088 camper conversion

Ckouba, Just to give you a point of reference. It took me a little over two years to build out my M934. I had some help with a lot of it. I did the finish work and mechanicals by myself. I didn't have to build the box. Based on what I started with and what you are doing from the ground up, I'd...

    My new project (M1009)

Great news! I love hear stories of a truck put out to waste being saved. This one showed you it’s appreciation by running. I look forward to seeing your progress with this project. Thanks for saving this vehicle.

SC I need insurance on my M813a1. Any advice.

I insure all of my vehicles with Hagerty. I had a chance to meet these folks this summer when the MVPA convoy visited their "garage". They fed us and let us hang out and enjoy their extensive collection. The folks I met there are just plane nice people. Their rates are fair. There are others...

Welcome to the site! You will find this place to be a vast source of knowledge… Or sometimes opinion. 😃 I don’t know what it’s like in Kansas but in Michigan and some other states, it’s almost impossible to title an HMMWV. This is due to the level of ignorance in our state government. You may...

    M38A1 Top

Where you live that top may not be a big deal. Up here in Michigan it could turn a summer jeep into a four season jeep. All kidding aside, I’m glad you caught this and now know it’s value. It imposable to know how many of these tops went to the scrap pile.

    M37 battery drain

This is good to know. A .8 amp load will definitely drain your batteries. The good news is, if you can measure it, you can find it. Now it’s just a process of elimination. It has been suggested that the voltage regulator has a stuck contact. If you have the stock regulator, you can simply unplug...

    M37 battery drain

Are you able to read current flow with the clamp amp meter? I don’t know if a clamp amp meter can measure DC current… It might, I just have never tried it…

    M37 battery drain

If you get arc when you connect the battery, we should be able to find the reason. I use process of elimination. Try to put a amp meter or 24 volt light bulb in series with the battery lead. You will see the current flow on the meter or the bulb will light up ( maybe dim if the draw is low) ...
