    Another Aussie goat rescued

I'll look forward to it mate, it's such a hoot to drive, I'm looking forward to getting some miles on it, especially offroad. Nice to have a deuce for company too, big enough to tow me home if it breaks! In the meantime, I can always come and play some time in another vehicle, power wagon...

No problem, just send me directions and a plane ticket and I'll be there......

    Another Aussie goat rescued

Video will be coming soon. I do plan to club plate it, still need a full roadworthy cert though, again, tyres will bugger me I think.

    Another Aussie goat rescued

I'm writing this as a very happy bunny, I took the goat for a test drive today, about 10 miles all up. Oil pressure was good, temp got to about 180 and never moved (close to 100 degrees here today), everything was smooth and normal. I did some offroad driving in low range 6x6, some high speed...

    Another Aussie goat rescued

I must have angered the goat gods by saying that everything was going smoothly, the installation didn't so much. Suspended the new box and slotted it into place ok, got the studs started but it just wouldn't slide forward into place, and wasn't hanging up in the spline. I had heeded the advice...

Strange thing is the transfer drove and functioned perfectly, it was quiet enough under acceleration but under engine brakes it howled like a police siren. As the old transfer is useless now, I'm going to have to tear it to bits just to see how bad it is.

The gasket between the transfer and the front bulkhead is damaged, I'm debating whether I cut a new paper one or apply a bead of sealant, any thoughts?

    Another Aussie goat rescued

Finally a job on the goat that has turned out considerably easier than planned, so far anyway. From start finish about 3 hours to remove. Now I just need to clean out the half inch or so of crap in bottom of the hull. The new transfer is all dressed and ready to drop in. No wonder the old box is...

    Transfer case oiling

It seems the shift tag is absent on mine, I shall have a hunt for it.

    Transfer case oiling

It was a government rebuild I got from Red River, rebuilt in Utah in August of 1987.

    Transfer case oiling

Sounds like Lucas and a little blind faith are the way the go. Didn't know these transfers had a neutral position.

    Transfer case oiling

I doubt there would be enough flow/pressure to turn a flow meter over.

    Transfer case oiling

I'm about to fit my rebuilt transfer case and have been thinking about the oil pump. The little bit of plastic tube is fine but a pain in the butt to access to see if the pump is working (hence why my goat has 1786 miles on it and the transfer is junk). Has anyone extended the piping to place...

It is suspiciously like a transfer case! There are some part numbers in various places but nothing to suggest a manufacturer.

    Aussie goat needs new shoes

Sidewalls are the bad part, treads are actually ok, just age cracking on sides. The double coins look ok, not a bad tread pattern but look like they'll be lots of ply. I want to steer away from the pro comps etc. if I can, expensive, loud and a short lifespan. Would make it a weapon offroad though.

    Another Aussie goat rescued

When did the goat service life actually finish? This was rebuilt in 1987.

    Aussie goat needs new shoes

How are the DUKW tires, does the higher ply rating make the ride harsh? They look like a good but expensive option. What other commercial tires fit? I've yet to find any.

    Aussie goat needs new shoes

As my goat edges closer to being road ready, I think the only thing that will make me fail my inspection is the age cracks in the tires. So I need 6 good ones, can anyone help? With the price of shipping to Aus they really need to be in excellent condition, also need to be able to get them to...

    Goats out to Winter Pasture

I'm guessing Germany, that's where the Aussie ones came from.
