    Bikini on a CUCV

Right - make your own. Looking gives you idea on tubing to use, wall thickness, diameter, best attachment points. You start with theirs and modify design to suit your access needs. Overbuild it. Gussets are your friend. Pad the heck out of it so your heads do not get beat up if it is needed.

Water in oil in M925A1 - New addition

Somebody sure heard that when it let loose.:!: I concur with your diagnosis. See very little cavitation on liner, indicating correct was antifreeze used.

    M923 No low beams

As they both are on at same time, then both should have issues. If you have a voltmeter, and want to, you could check battery voltages. over 15 volts per battery is excessive. Check where Wagner is made. I bought some GE bulbs for my house, and they were short lived. Made in Chinaroo! I...

    M923 No low beams

Like Steel & C said in previous post, light must be tight, and bucket must be secure. If anything is loose, will bounce and stress out filament. Are you using good bulbs, not the ones made in Chinaroo? Have to ask - kinda dumb, but you are using correct voltage bulbs, right. If you answer is...

    Uses for Deuces

Now that's a score - looks like it has a HVAC unit - wonder if it still works. I like the "Katie bar the door" on the rear exit.

    Tail light out question

Caused by high resistance somewhere in the circuit. A voltmeter can quickly diagnose the problem. On older equipment, you need to look for corrosion where the terminal is connected to the body AND where the wires go into the terminals. The connector can look good, but there...

Happy birthday to me (trans cooler failed)

Ya might want to check that out. In 1978, we were hauling heavy and auto trans got too hot. We had same idea, or alternatively, adding a cooler after stock one in radiator. Chrysler told us not to. Trans fluid supposed to be at a certain temperature. They sold us a kit that hooked in before...

Happy birthday to me (trans cooler failed)

You are certainly right. Excellent idea! The problem is after it goes thru cooler, it lubes bearings. If the filter restricts flow too much, then he will have to do what he has been trying to avoid - R&R . He could adapt your idea by filtering externally, or doing an add on pump &...

Happy birthday to me (trans cooler failed)

Is this the 1008? Were you able to remove torque converter plugs? Lot of oil in converter.

I think the acid from all them oak leaves caused the problem.

    Buying Help

If you have someone who is very experienced with these vehicles, you do not have to stay away from GL. A thorough pre purchase checkout by someone like your friend who has worked on and is familiar with what you plan to purchase should weed out the ones beyond economic repair. Then you bid on...

    Buying Help

If you fill in your location, then you can find out if there are people familiar with what you want to buy near you. If so, suggest you compensate someone to look over any planned purchase with you. I am a very experienced mechanic who has rebuilt/ repaired just about everything. I still would...

    '41 MB Electrical problems

Never disconnect battery on running vehicle with a generator. Good way to blow up your electrical system!! Mechanical voltage regulators work on points opening and closing. The battery stabilizes the system, holding the voltage constant. Without the battery, there will be voltage spikes. If the...

Old report - oil analysis in military engines

This report is dated, but still interesting. It compares performance of some oils including synthetic in extended/ no drain service. I believe synthetic oils have improved since then, and from having used Mobil 1 in 2 of my vehicle engines for a little while during that time, surmise a lot of...

    M923a1 failure, need input.

Right! I also suggest removing battery cables as an extra layer of safety. To make fine adjustments, I have moved it with judicious use of a big blade screwdriver in the ring gear teeth, and shaft against bell housing. I say judicious because you are not honking on screwdriver. Just moving it a...
