I know rodney @ feltz auto in marshfield, WI had some 5 ton rims sitting in a trailer at the Iola show, they had a weld in adapter installed to fit a deuce.
I didn't ask about them at all, but could be worth a call.
Personally, I'd love to get a set of beadlocks for my 5-ton, and then adapt...
It could be a small deuce wheel, not sure. I know my 809 wheel is built a little bit squarer than the deuce ones, specifically the spokes, but I have never seen a small deuce wheel before.
I have a similar problem, no big gut, but long legs. My knees touch the wheel when I lift on the gas, or try to put my foot on the brake.
I have read about people moving the steering colum mount up farther on the dash in a deuce. I'm planning on trying something similar in my 5-ton.
Thanks, I figured it was for the older models. I guess I should have picked up one of those at IOLA too, could have sold them together.
From the schematic it looks like it could be made to work though. I guess I will keep grying to find the correct box, and work on the getting the rest of...
I'll probably get rid of it, I want to keep it around for now until I can use it to make a template. I actually thought about cutting it up, but if someone can use it I'd rather not.
Picked up a southwind 30k btu unit at Iola last weekend (pretty darn cheap too).
It came w/ this weird mount. I'm wondering if anyone knows what the mount was for. I'm thinking maybe a van box or something. It has a slide door on one side, and a swinging door on the other side.
I had a...
Thanks for the info Ted.
Since I started this thread I figured I would update. My control box was fine. My starter was the issue.
They are not easy to find, and are expensive rebuilt. I found a manual on the prestolite website. Wasn't 100% accurate, but very close. I pulled it apart and...
Pull A and fill w/ fuel. Give it a good shot of ether. It should fire and die. Give it another shot of ether and when she fires work the pedal. It should keep running on the 2nd or 3rd try.
Wow, am I glad I opened this thread. I use the same can as in the picture to clean metal all the time. Never had any bad side effects, but at times I've noticed a nasty smell when welding. You can bet I won't be using that stuff on anything buy brakes anymore.
# 28 was definetally the nicer of the two, I think that was the lower numbered one. The one that had rust in the platform for the rear was going higher until I quit watching them tuesday morning.
What were the last 2 numbers of the lot? I went and inspected all 28 trucks. Ended up not buying though.
One of the wreckers was so-so, and the other looked pretty nice (I believe it was the one with the higher lot number.
DR. Greg: What was your number?
I was looking at buying the...
Horizontal siping will do alot to improve wet and ice traction. I've done it several times on mud tires that had no siping, and the difference was amazing.
They went from an unsafe tire in the snow/ice to the best tire I've ever driven on ice. I even pulled a car from the ditch on a glare...
I just got my 818 started after about 6 mos. of sitting.
I pulled the NPT style plug on top of the pump and filled it w/ diesel. Then w/ a good shot of ether (glow plugs off of course). It started after a few attempts.
That has been my thinking, just curious what it could have been, or if the legs were part of some sort of kit or conversion that might have been done to it at one time.
