The Gov't has been buying alot of those PLS trailers, I drive by the assembly plant every other week, and there are always a few outside waiting to get sent.
I wonder if it would be easier to just move the air filter assembly over to the drivers side (or maybe use an M54 unit) and then you could run the crossover in front of the engine, and get rid of that large air intake pipe.
I'm looking forward to eventually turboing my XM818
Kenny, I am considering putting singles on my m342a2. If I do I think I will have to loose the quarter fenders to make them fit. They are a little bent up but not bad.
If I make the change I will be sure to let you know.
Also, to piggy back on your thread (like I did last time you were...
That is the bellhousing. There shouldn't be any fluid coming from there, if there was a leak inside it would be engine oil or trans fluid, but your fluid looks like neither.
Check your oil level, just to be sure you haven't filled the engine with ful.
Then I would look for a fuel leak up top...
The description of the fluid makes it sound like diesel fuel. If it's trans fluid it will be a reddish color.
If the line is leaking, I would measure the OD of the line and see if you can get a stainless high pressure compression fitting. Cut out the bad spot install the fitting and it...
The low range shifting has nothing to do w/ the air lines. The air lines are for the front drive sprag. This is what controls driving your front axle.
You might want to start by watching the linkage when you shift to low, and making sure it is firmly going all the way into low and not...
I was having trouble getting them to save. Figure out if you scroll over the picture so the PRev, and Next options are not displayed, then right click you will get the save picture option.
I'd stay away from the 715 front axle, as it's a closed knuckle. Also, keep in mind the CUCV front is going to have a different gear ratio (4.56) than the M880 (4.10) rear.
Great minds think alike! It was not just a few days ago, I though about puttins a set of those axles under my M818. Too bad the gearing isn't a bit higher.
I replaced mine also, due to popping out of high. I paid 400 for mine, but it came with no guarantee that it would be good. Got lucky and it was though.
I know where one of those trailer chassis is. I have the same plan as you if I can get the guy to sell it to me for a decent price. Just need to get the tractor running and start hounding him to sell.
