Check out TM 9-2910-226-34 for the injection pump. It will give you a good working understanding of how the pump works and where the seals and "O" rings are located on the different assemblies. If it is coming from the fuel shutoff rod assembly I would think it is most likely from a bad “O” ring...

Welcome to the site. The type of truck is a lot of personal preference and you will find pro's and con's to them all. I like my deuce and a half, it's slow, noisy, hot in the summer and cold in the winter(no heater option) but it is stupid simple and I have fun driving it. To each their own...

Someone thought that might help with exhaust flow maybe. Tried to angle it up some for a better flow not realizing every turn adds to restriction let alone the proximity of the insulation.

I used one of these Parker/Racor filters on my 02 Ford 7.3. you can get different micron ratings for the spin on filter and has a nice sediment bowl and drain. Can't remember what I paid anymore but I pick it up at marine supply years ago for under a "C" note. 2cents...

Well I run this. Have about 500+ miles after fill and no problems yet. Shifts nice in summer and winter. Meets Dana/Rockwell 50 weight requirement and is yellow metal safe. There will be as many answers as members but that's what I am running in the transmission and transfer case...

There is always the chance that it was a “spare” or leftover from a previous repair of some type but the inspection you are doing hopfully will tell the tale.

You might want to check the air filter for the compressor. If it is extremely dirty it can cause more oil to be drawn past the rings in the compressor.

You said it still seems to run fine and I would think from that you also have oil pressure but there is a bypass spring in the oil pump. Maybe that's were it came from.
