One thing I do is to run both my MEP-018 and MEP-003 at least every other month for about an hour under varying loads to keep all the moving parts free and let the moisture burn off both in the engine and generator head. Also mix 200:1 2 cycle fuel oil in with the diesel for the MEP-003 to help...
Bump. Thought I would bring this back to life in as much as the General Assembly has deemed it necessary to have a special session this month (May) to raise our taxes. They have a very bad history of slipping other unrelated legislation through in the dark of the night. Anyone hear of anything...
Been there done that. :) The banner seems to give it a nice straight trajectory when I forget to take it off. Kind of like the stick on a bottle rocket or tail on a kite. I think it must help in not blowing off in the wind also.
:) So simple, cheap like me and as of yet I have never had it blow off. Have been using it for over 2 years now and the truck sits out in all weather. No straps, cords or bungies to hold it on.
I always pull plug #16 in the diagram. Most the time just a about a half cup of oil comes out and never had a problem with oil left in the filters. 2cents

Wonder what the chances are the pickup tube fell out of the pump. Looking at the manuals I don't see where there is any type of retainer for the tube. Just seems to be a press fit . Maybe worth taking the oil drain line off the pan and fish around in the pan with a magnet to see if there are any...
