Radiator Fan ....... "turn off" Switch

If the thermoswitch fails.......the failsafe is to de-energize the circuit and ENABLE the fan. That's my understanding about it's design, ie if any sensor/wiring fails it results in de-energizing the valve and thereby enabling the fan. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what the word 'fail' means or...

Radiator Fan ....... "turn off" Switch

I think you meant if the thermoswitch fails it will still provide power and will ENABLE fan not disable. Correct me if wrong as I need to understand this circuit.

Sequence pulling steering link/pitman/idler arm.......intermediate steering shaft.

Just to confirm........when you slid the steering column link off the box.....the box was still bolted into the frame?

Sequence pulling steering link/pitman/idler arm.......intermediate steering shaft.

ahhhhhhh.......i didn't realize it was a 'through' bolt.......thought it was just a clamp bolt.....I guess I'll try removing the bolt completely and see if that changes anything.

Sequence pulling steering link/pitman/idler arm.......intermediate steering shaft.

Thank you. What about the input shaft? How did you get the shaft off the input shaft on the box? I loosened the clamp bolt/nut and it feels loose but I can't get it off. I saw one post on another forum that seemed to indicate the steering wheel has to be pulled and the column clamp on...

Sequence pulling steering link/pitman/idler arm.......intermediate steering shaft.

When you took the pitman off did you remove the steering link from the TRE's and the idler arm??? Or did you just pop the pitman off the steering link and leave the link attached everywhere else........then removed the pitman off the box. How did you get the input shaft off the box (from the...

Post Engine Oil Cooler Change - Starting Problem

Does the starter turn over and it's just a 'no start'???? I'm not understanding that part of your description.

Sequence pulling steering link/pitman/idler arm.......intermediate steering shaft.

Trying to pull out the steering gear/box. The TM doesn't specify sequence or tricks. I tried starting with intermediate shaft that goes to steering box........loosened the bolt/nut but can't get the shaft to release from the spline shaft of box. In other trucks the steering column will...

How long can you run without serpentine belt?

Related question.........how many people does it take to push a HMMWV 200 yards a little bit uphill LOL. Sounds like I may just run it and then replace the oil pump along with steering box.

How long can you run without serpentine belt?

This is a separate but related question to my thread on steering gear box blow out. I want to move the truck a short distance but don't want to ruin the power steering pump as I can't keep up with fluid loss. If I remove the belt the pump won't turn so I assume that will save the pump. I...

    Power Steering Fluid Blow Out

I have a built in flush now.........will switch to the DEX III ATF. I guess I can have one of my kids poor in the fluid as I drive it.

    Power Steering Fluid Blow Out

I refilled it with power steering fluid. I'm pretty sure previous owner had ATF in it (pink/red). The new power steering fluid is blue.

    Power Steering Fluid Blow Out

Confirmed the carnage. Filled it up with power steering fluid and started it up........gushing from input shaft area of steering box. Audible and excessive. As a tangent I noted the thread regarding 'reliability' and agreed (and still do agree) with those supporting general reliability...

    Power Steering Fluid Blow Out

    Thanks for that.

    Power Steering Fluid Blow Out

Makes sense. Do I fill it back up with fluid and then try and see where it's leaking? Why would it fail so catastrophically?

    Power Steering Fluid Blow Out

Been snowing so I thought I'd take the truck out and help wife run errands. Ran perfect. Even wife like it. Then as we are pulling into drive I'm turning near lock to pull into drive way and feel it's getting hard to steer suddenly. Smell some type of fluid and some burnt smell but only...

    TCM Relay Specs?

Anyone know what the electronic relay for the TCM is rated for in Amps?? I was going to add another circuit or two. Because it's electronic I assumed it may not be rated very high.

    4L80 Stuck in 2nd Gear

If the TCM were to be completely disconnected, ie remove all three connectors at the transmission, ie not just lose power but also physically disconnect the connectors.......would it still be able to operate in limp mode??

24v battery charging through NATO port

Tex here is something I did recently. I used Victron as the charger (big in the RV world). Noco is nice as well but I liked the fact the Victron was completely waterproof and also had a bluetooth function when it is plugged in to monitor. Noco makes a nice bulkhead thru-plug that allows you...

Noise from generator pulley?? Free spins on shutdown.

I've tried oiling/greasing the bearing/clutch but can't make it go quiet. If everyone says this noise is normal than so be it but it makes me anxious everytime as I associate this with a bad bearing or something borken. I was able to switch out the line and it was perfect. No more leak and...
