    CUCV Cash for Clunkers

One more reason to love my old Ford 6, I've had a few of them over years and think they were the best engine Ford made. On the clunker deal i found a near mint 1987 C20 that was traded as a clunker in a junk yard. it was the cleanest truck I've seen since the 80's. The paint and markings on the...

    Project finally nearing the end

This one came from lakehurst, late Jul 08. I had Medford Speed do all the machine work/balancing, I did the assembly. It's a great shop to work with. There is another shop a little north from me that has a lot of experience with these motors. They do all the local military work. Don't remember...

    Project finally nearing the end

Looks like there's no contest on the bumpers. I was leaning more towards them than the civi. units. I'm thinking stock flat silver on the bumpers with satin black on the brush guard and shackles. If it doesn't look right then maybe all flat silver. Now if I could only get a few semi-warm days to...

    Project finally nearing the end

Finished up the drivetrain this weekend and moved the truck out of the shop to test the trans so i fiquered i'd take a few shots of the progress. It finally looks like a truck again, almost. I stripped the truck down in Aug for a quick clean/fix up and as all projects it kind-of snowballed into...

    ATF mixed with diesel

I did a quick calculation, so it may not be excact, but close enough. To bring it back to the 1980's 5000PPM diesel you would need 17.29 grams per 1.07 gallons, or roughly .5 lb per 15gal fill up. I would mix it with the 2-cycle oil for an easy pour in additive.

    Assembly Line Pics

I work on GA birds, mostly the basic fleet up to King-air size. I was a 2531(comm) with an airwing but never got to play with those unfortunately.

    goodyear wrangler tires

From my exp with my 88 F-250, I'll never use a goodyear tire on my truck again. It came new with the old Wrangler radial, replaced with the same, then RT/S and then 2 sets of the AT/S. I was constantly chasing shimmies and vibrations in the truck. kept the tires balanced and rotated regularly...

Before I bid on an M1028 in southern caly, a few questions. (Barstow)

There's one on e-bay listed now in Royal City, WA that's only up to 900. It's from a fire dept. so it's unfortunately yellow. look up chevy d30 as the search. It may be a bit closer for you.

Leaking Diesel From Filter Housing? New filter didn't fix issue? What to do?

You can purchase a NOS unit from www.oem-surplus.com for 49.95 plus shipping. I had the same issue, this is the cure. The new filter assy doesn't have the fuel pressure sensor(which is normally the cause of the leak), but has the water sensor and heater. Unless you plan to the STE-ICE test set...

    Civi trailer wiring made easy

After reading a few threads on trailer wiring I thought I'd post my solution. It simply plugs in in place of the mil plug at the weather pack connectors. If you want to use the mil plug it only takes about 30sec to reconnect it. I used a 7-round/4-flat combo plug for versatility, although I...

Thanks for the replies. joey- is the front a civi tray or did you mod the military one ? it looks like you left the CDR alone, does that work with the pressurized manifold?

    Banks turbo - intake advise

I'm getting ready to install a banks kit from a donor truck i picked up for the turbo/700r4. I picked up the 1008 from GL in SEP and installed 2 new yellow top group 31 batteries. My problem is the front tray, the 31 won't fit the civy tray and the airbox needs to go there. I thought about...

what MPH does your m1009 shift at??

My 1008 shifted like this also. Replaced the mod with an adjustable, backed it out 1 turn and adjusted the vac switch to the center. it now shifts perfectly, 12-15 to 2nd and @25 to 3rd under light throttle. it also shifts very smooth, you don't feel it unless you're into the throttle.

Anyone ever install a nos m1009 rear end?

As long as it has been properly stored, it should be good to go. I haven't installed a NOS diff, but just finished (DEC) installing a NOS engine assembly in my F250, it was built and crated in 1996. I had to make a few minor changes to use it in a 1988, but it's perfect so far.

    M998 starter on CUCV ??

Just wondering if anyone has used the prestolite starter from the 998's on the 1008. It seems to be much better quality than the GM starter, but i'm not sure if they are interchangeable. Thanks

    What type glow plug connectors?

The 60G plugs use the Delphi Packard series 56 connector, you can get them from www.keefeperformance.com . You will need a molex type crimper to install them, i've seen them go pretty cheap on e-bay at times.
