    What's the perfect tire/trans/gear combination for M1028?

No response? Don't want to hyjack, but maybe it will work better if you throw up a combo and let others shoot holes in it. I'm looking at 37" surplus hummer tires stock 4.56:1 gears and 4L80E over drive trans. Hoping for a great daily driver commuter @ 65 mph / 16+ MPG and looking to stick...

    Newby with the fever

Ordered my Tuff Country HD front springs for $170 off of retail with free shipping. Surprised that the redneck drag racing /hot rod performance catalog company carried them. Free shipping was a cool turkey day holiday shopping perk /bonus. Still waiting on tires... Maybe Monday or Tuesday...

    Best source for exhaust?

Walker (Brand) usually has everything you need and top notch quality. They were around 30 yrs ago and while not as popular today they have good stuff and a great selection. I ran the pipe bender and did custom exhaust for 7yrs. The big flaw I see with my truck is dual exhaust and low...

    Trailer light plug options

Looks like about $25 will get me a 8' NATO 12 pin plug & cord to have my way with.

    Trailer light plug options

This came up in my search earlier and as far as I know CUCV only runs 12v lights. Thus no need for this 24v converter. I could run a standard Chevy harness plug (Rare to find one on the shelf now that these trucks are getting scarce) I wold prefer to use the mil plug and make a conversion...

    Trailer light plug options

Searching for trailer light / brake plug options. I hate to chop up my factory harness but I will solider and shrink if I must. Are there any good conversion harnesses to run a civilian 7 pin or any good military trailer pin out adapters. I'm sure I'm not the only one but so far my search...

    Vector Hurricane 8lug Aluminium Wheels

I understand ~ I've used this style wheel for 25 yrs just my first time with an 8-lug and my last set in 1991 came with the mag wheel lug nuts. I've never had an issue centering other Hurricane style Mag wheels but as these wheels approach 30 yrs old you never know what battle scars will...

    M1008 Rear disc Brakes

How well do these stop using the stock MC and proportioning valve??? My Learnings on rear disk swap with 4wd Toyota: Master cylinder piston displacement volume to wheel cylinder piston volume is a precise calculation to get the leverage ratio correct. With smaller import 4wd's we needed to...

    Vector Hurricane 8lug Aluminium Wheels

Shopping for lug nuts now. Only available in CHROME aua Doorman and McGuard look like the only option. The better made in USA McGuard (Part No. 62822) lug nuts will cost me as much as the wheels even with almost 50% off thru Amazon. Retail is 71.96 for 8 + shipping. Hopefully centering is...

    Vector Hurricane 8lug Aluminium Wheels

Anyone else running a set? BUT if they are good enough for Chuck Norris :patracy: Seriously, I bought the set local for less then I can buy spacers for / or ship the hummer wheels. Love the H1 bead lock look but not crazy about the extra weight. Hopefully these 70's classics don't...

    O.R.D. 4" Lift

WarWag, Thanks for the tip on the passenger shock mount. I'll have the torch and mig welder ready. Also ~ How well is your rear axle centered with the Shackle flip? Is the need to move the back axle rearward centering it in the wheel well common on M1008's? With other make trucks we...

    O.R.D. 4" Lift

Twomorestrokes, Big thanks for the RPM numbers on the 37's. Hoping my 08 on 37's will be ok with the 21' ski boat and the 10k equipment trailer. Were those 6.2 Turbo Campers running 4.56 gears? Fortunately I'm coastal so I've gotta drive 100 miles to find a good hwy speed down shift...

    O.R.D. 4" Lift

Big thanks War Wagon!!! My fresh 37" BAJA TA's come in Monday and I will place my order with ORD then. How is your truck managing with drive shaft length and pinion angle? Any noticeable shackle flip / pinion angle related drive line vibes. Also how is the dropped pitman arm working...

    O.R.D. 4" Lift

Looks like this cart is based off of the RPM / power curve for a gas motor . CUCV Diesel torque curve "SWEET SPOT" is gonna be at a lower RPM (2200 I think I read). Not sure what they are doing for newer trucks with OD transmission. The old charts of the 80's calculated with the old 1:1 top...

    M1028 tow a deuce?

While nowhere near a duce.... Here is my trailer behind a friends K-20 (today) with 2 in the bed for 13. These were just cut 1 week ago and were wetter (Heavier) then the usual. On sale for $20 each due to lack of dry storage. Luckily I was not around for this one. And he just bought a...

    Got a rattle....

I prefer listening thru a good length of 3/8" hose over the screw driver (Sometimes I'll just disconnect and use the overflow hose). We used to use the hose for listening to / pin pointing exhaust manifold leaks / vacuum leaks and other misc noises. You don't have to be close and moving around...
