    Mutt body panels

Is anyone making a replacement panel that goes from in front of top bow mount down around curve about 10 inches? I have rust at the curve on both sides. Body shop said would take 8-10 hours to fabricate and replace metal at curves @$48/hr. Much more then I can afford. Any ideas?:-(

    dumb question?

The fuel line is a loop, returns excess fuel to tank. Mine had a artic heater so fuel line had 3 way connector with 1 line feeding fuel to the heater. You may need your injection pump rebuilt. seals etc. can go bad from age, and/or sitting and not driven very much. My rebuild cost me $350...

    Oh no, RUST!

I have rust starting in the usual places on my 1008. It's rusting at the cab corners (what a surprise), and the left rear wheel well edges (Has progressed to metal crumbling along edge). First, how do I stop it? What do I do and how do I do it? I want to stop it before it spreads more...

    Power steering belt install

I don't know what a pumps bracket is. You loosen the top generator bracket bolt and and push or use pry bar to slide generator over loosing belt tension. It's pretty simple. Other than maybe loosen the bottom bolt of the same bracket if needed to swing generator over, that's about it.

    cucv fuel filter

Sounds like you had a bad fuel pressure switch located in the filter base. It will seem like air in the fuel lines. I had the same problem. First I replaced the fuel pump. Then I had injector pump rebuilt. Next put in check valve in fuel line, and finally installed electric fuel pump. Oh...

    m1009 fuel pump

CUCV electric fuel pump An electric fuel pump cures problem with starting truck after running out of fuel. It also starts pumping and priming system as soon as key it put in on position. It also installs in fuel line just before filter. Easy install just 1 wire to fuse box. No need to...

    M1009 with 15k miles won't start

Vac pump for priming fuel filter You also might try a hand operated vac pump, like you would use to bleed brakes. I can't see why it wouldn't work.

    M1009 with 15k miles won't start

24v Electric fuel pump I would suggest putting an electric one in. You can remove mechanical one, and gm makes a cover for the pump opening. Or, leave the pump in place and attach electric pump in fuel line after mechanical pump. They make 24v pumps too as well as 12v.

    M1009 with 15k miles won't start

Vacumm to prime 1009 and other fix I tried that on my 1009 with shop vac. I was desperate! It didn't work at all. Finally put electric fuel pump (12v) in series with the mechanical in the fuel line and took power off key so when the glow plugs triggered so did the fuel pump. It primes...

    Park Light

I had the same problem with my 1009. I found problem was contact wasn't hitting right. It would stay on. Get under dash and look at it. I bent the contact until it was working properly. Simple fix if it's that.

Better12v Solenoid and glow plug power supply

I'm sorry you think it's wrong. The glow plugs are 12v. I have had this set-up on my trucks for 6 years now. Never burned out glow plugs or anything else because of it. The person who told me about the change was very experienced with both 1009 & 1008's. He had this mod on his trucks years...

    M1009 Glow Plug Sensor

The part is not available anymore. But, there is a substitute one available through GM. Part is same in civy & Military. Easy install. Also think about putting in manual button to fire glow plugs. 8-10 seconds in spring/summer and 16 seconds in winter. Easy to do. Never fails, and cheap...

Better12v Solenoid and glow plug power supply

The power for the solenoid and glow plugs comes through the resister on the firewall which drops the 24v to 12v which is what power the solenoid and glow plugs need. To get a direct 12v supply, just remove the wire from the rear of the resister and screw onto 12v power block very near the...

    M1009 with 15k miles won't start

Better solenoid power supply Hi all! The resister on the firewall drops power from 24v to 12v to power the glow plugs. If you take wire off the end of the resister and put it on 12v power block near it you get a much better power supply to the solenoid . Once you no longer need the resister...

Fuel Pressure Switch and Hard Starting CUCV

Hard starting COCV's No #. Only military used it. Not available from GM. Sometimes you can see them leaking, or not. If CUCV is hard starting in warm weather, and/or you need the block heater in winter, change fuel pressure switch first (cheaper than replacing glow plugs).
