What did you win? June 16, 2011

I looked at them last night and according to the specs they are 6'X3'X3'. Weight was 400 pounds each. If enough people are interested I can pick them up with the dually and lowboy...it would cost me around 250 for fuel round trip plus misc expences and a modest fee for my labor. Prob still...

Wreckerman and Elmo on the move

Myself and Elmo are starting on an epic adventure. The nature of the mission, destination and other information is on a need to know basis at the present time. I will document the adventure and will be posting the gory details and pictures of the guilty parties as soon as OPSEC allows...

    Forming a Rally?

We have kicked the idea of an officially sactioned Steel Soldiers Rally (blessed by the owners of the site) before. The main questions are location and date. A national rally would have to be sort of in the middle of the country so that the max amount of people could attend. As for date you...

2 x M923A1's from Eastover, SC to Greensboro, NC (200 miles)

Two of them should fit on a 53 foot step deck trailer. If they need to be hauled your best bet would be to find a trucker looking for a backhaul.....be aware that sometimes a short haul will cost more per mile than a long haul. If they are runners a 200 mile trip would be easy if you had...

    Spotted at Ft Sam

The normal demil proceedure for the M151 was to allow the buyer to remove everything that was bolted on....the pan was then cut into four pieces and crushed......then it was pitched into the DRMO scrap metal dumpster. I watched 35 of them get that treatment at Fort McClellan in 1991.....the...

    Headers

The HUMVEE's have what appear me to be a tuned exhaust system (looks like headers).....would they fit?

need help with pioneer trailer @ huntsville

Considering my luck at Haspin last weekend the recovery went surprisingly well....the little trailer pulled good and other than the hubs getting a little warm there were no issues. Alway happy to help a brother out.

    fuel tanker

I have seen the older fiberglass Buffs converted to Waste Motor Oil trailers......never seen one haul fuel.......the new ones are stainless steel so unless the seals would be affected by the fuel you could prob do it. The big issue would be weight.....diesel fuel weighs more than water.....and...

    Broken Turbo Studs

The wax idea sounds dumb but it works...heat the manifold (you do not have to get it cherry red)....touch the stud with a candle and let the wax be drawn into the threads...repeat a couple of time and gently tap on the stud to allow the wax to get sucked up. You do not have to wail on it...a...

    M35A3 Ranch Truck

Will all diesel trucks run on Alt fuel and which alts

Older diesels will tolerate some alt fuel....my 87 Diesel Ranger will run fine on 50/50 diesel/veggie oil in the summer. Years ago it was common for large trucking companies to filter there waste engine oil and mix it with diesel in their company tanks. Straight veggie oil does not have that...

$65 Deuce from GL - what?

Just looking at that rust I would say he got what he paid for. The min bid has been $150.00 for a while......either he bought it a while ago or he is BSing. That's his tale....I'm sitting on mine.

What to do to a M101

Do you have a local BUY/SELL publication?? Post them with a pic of one in the "tilt" position. They sell pretty good around here for utility trailers. I sold my last one for $450.00 one day after I put it out in the front yard.

    Dismounting Tires With HiLift Jack

TaylorTradingCo (Derrick) loaned me an electric jack hammer.....I used it to break down one tire already but it will eat your lunch......it does break the bead easy if you lube it up with Dawn and water. I'll post pics later.

    2011 Haspin Sign-in

Wreckerman, Bama Lady and Elmo...no MV and we only stayed a few hours. Except for getting stuck twice, having my shoes sucked off by the mud, almost getting a speeding ticket on the way back and losing a hundred dollar bill somewhere we had a great time. We did enjoy seeing the gang...

    CTIS Not Working

If I remember correctly there is a sequence you have to do to reset the system......I have only driven one A3 from SC to AL. When we picked it up the tires were low but not flat....I punched the buttons a few times and they aired up....no more problems all the way back to AL. The TM should...

M923's and M925's, how much are they going for now?

The main issue I had with them was the automatic transmission..it banged upshifting and downshifting. Usually I would shift them manually. The high/low transfer lever was a PITA to operate. At the unit I was in at Fort Benning we had two that the transmission bolts backed out of and the...
