    Wreckerman screwed the pooch

Well....me and Elmo got a visit from Mr. Murphy this morning. I cranked up the work deuce to slave off the M275.....I left it sitting on fairly flat land with the E-brake on. I went into the shop to get the cables and as I was coming out the door I heard a loud "BANG" and the van trailer in...

    Slow vehicle safety

Flashing LED "Whoopie Lights" on the rear of the vehicle are the best defense against drooling mongoloids that are too busy doing everything except concentrating on the task at hand. If they do hit you they can't say they weren't warned sufficiently.

    optional tranny for M915 series?

When I drove M916/915's in the Army I loved the CAT transmission....once you get the hang of "slap shifting" it you can move on out. The issue in the civilian world is that most CAT dealers have little or no experience working on them because there were few civilian applications. SS member...

    Bobbed DUKW

While I don't have a problem chopping a regular deuce due to the sheer numbers of them I would draw the line at butchering a DUKW........they are rare and getting rarer. I have an M275 and I would never consider bobbing it. I would try to save it whole or sell it to someone that will give it...

Cab top with gun cut out were to get ?

It was on my first deuce.....I called it the "redneck gun turret"......pretty much a hack job and leaked like a screen door. I got some pics but they're on my old laptop.

    Inspection only during auction period?

I got that word from Teresa at Redstone a few weeks ago (I may have mentioned it in one of my posts). I was up there yesterday and inspected some trucks up for auction this week.....I was eyeballing some other ones and the guy escorting me reigned me in and said to stick to the ones up for...

    What's her name???

Yesterday my son (now 24) rode with me to the scrapper in the work deuce.......every once in awhile, out of the corner of my eye, I saw the little blond haired, blue eyed boy that loved to ride in Daddy's trucks when he was little. He still had a grin on his face and loves to watch the...

    Experience buying scrap from GL

I would be very careful when buying material to scrap out.......I just took a 500 buck azz whipping because I trusted GL's weight quote on a load of aluminum. They cover their arse with disclaimers so I am not mad at anyone......just 500 bucks lighter.

Wreckerman and Elmo on the move

I can assure you that the vehicles pictured in the thread are a drop in the bucket compared to what is housed in the compound. I thought I was a Green Iron Addict but I am not in the race with Ziggy. The zombies have no chance in his AO.

    Is that temp rise normal

If the fuel has been turned to it that can cause the heat to buiild......more fuel=more heat....diesels run better at higher temps up to a point.....then things start going south. Easing your foot out of it should allow it to cool down assuming you have no cooling system issues.....when was...

ZiggyO is still otherwise engaged in moving bag and baggage from Jersey to the new LZ.....once he gets a breather I'm sure he'll post a narrative for all to enjoy.

    M101 Restore!

The usual way to camo a truck or trailer was to use a green base coat and add the brown and black over it. The pattern would be drawn out in chalk and painted on one color at a time. There is a manual that shows the patterns and how to do it.
