Very sharp old truck.

I think there have been several bobs using a shortend stock bed. If you use a M105 trailer bed you have to make the driveshaft a little longer so the rear axle will line up with the middle of the trailer fenders. I used a little factory built flatbed on mine.

I'll say it again....it's much better to have a deuce and not need it than to need a deuce and not have it.:mrgreen:

I didn't get a picture of the bird....I think it is an old Russian one. Fort Rucker (Army chopper training center) is close by and I suspect Ted got it from there. The guy has the goodies. I think his prices are high but fair for some of the rare stuff he has.

We called them "Holmes Kits" when I was in. The Transportation unit next to my old unit at Fort Benning had several of them in their recovery section.

Unfortunantly that series of trucks is prone to electrical gremlins....always has been. I wasn't fond of them when I had to drive them in the Army and never had the urge to own one. Maybe you can find an MV that is more user friendly and doesn't attract the attention of Mr. Murphy so often.

You can get two deuces on a 53 foot step deck trailer......I shipped two back from Arkansas on one. They might squeeze two on a 48 footer if neither had a winch but it would be tight. Weight is not an issue with two deuces on a commercial vehicle...it will not be close to the 80K max.

I agree that 4-5 bucks a mile is high....the hotshot guy that delivered my first deuce back hauled it for about 2 bucks a mile but he had delivered a load near Fort Jackson where it was located. He did not have to deadhead very far to pick it up. Since it is a private sale maybe you could meet...
