It might be possible to do some trail rides on the Alabama side of the Chattahoochie river.
That is where the Airborne School drop zone is and there are a lot of dirt roads out there.
You can access that area without having to get on base.
We would have to coodinate with Range Control but...
They had tilt hoods on the 900 series 5 tons that had winches.
You just had to lean farther over to grab the handle.
Even though they were made of fiberglass they were heavy and there was no mechanical assist to help you get them open.
Still better than crawling around on fenders to check...
Thank you for your hospitality and a great event.
I had a good time and left with more stuff than I arrived with (this is not an uncommon occurence as I have a steep learning curve).
Elmo had a good time too.
We hope that the GA MVPA folks know that they are welcome at all SS...
I think the flappers are kind of cheesy....much more fun to put a can over it and launch it off when you crank it (just attach a dummy cord to the can so you won't have to hunt for it).
I think hydrolic disc brakes would be more practical......as pointed out too much stuff hanging down in harms way if you intend to do much offroading.
I saw an ad in one of the offroad mags that offered an adaptor kit to put discs on a Rockwell axle.
I have been twice (I think) and it is a great little rally.
Wreckerman gives it [thumbzup][thumbzup].
If I have recovered from the GA Rally I will be there.
Gravedigger,
I have a M916 and a M915 at Redstone I am waiting for EUC's to clear on.
I previewed all those trucks and still have my notes. PM me your event and lot number if you want my opinion on it.
I do recoverys for folks and have a good working relationship with Teresa and her crew...
I agree 100% with Jim Henderson on a major event in the Columbus, GA area.
There is the Confederate Gunboat Museum (located very close to Papa Bear's LZ), the new Infantry Museum and Columbus is a military town.
I think with some coodination with local officals and a good location we could...
That one is in very good shape.
Everybody deserves a return on their investment.
If it it worth it to a buyer then it is not overpriced.
The guy that bought my wrecker put some bucks into refurbing it but he told me he could not buy a civilian equivalent for less than 50k used.
The crane...
I been kicking that idea around for years.
All of the components would have to be welded together (hood, fenders, ligth panels, side panels).
If you could get it to work like the 900 series hoods it would make maint a lot easier.
For those who did not attend you missed the chance to see my new best friend Elmo D. Possum.
Elmo made the trip to and from the meet in fine form.
He did get up a tree for a little while......there may have been a lady possum up there.
Except for that leg humping incident with Clinto Elmo...
