I blew the filter out yesterday and I will take her on a test run tomorrow to see if there was any restriction.....according to the gauge there is no restriction but you never know.
I may just bite the bullet and buy a new filter.....but money is tight....."Jessica" is not a cheap date.

Run.....run while you can......once you fallen in with this lot you are doomed....doomed I tell you..........arghhhhhhhhhh
Welcome to the green iron looney bin:cookoo:.
Multi-fuels are cheap since so many deuces have been cut up for the axles and parted out.
Check the classifieds and fellow SS members in your area.
Justs my two coppers worth.
Go with the little voice in your head....the A3's were a failed (and expensive) attempt to modernize the deuces and allow them to keep up with the HEMMT's and HUMVEE's.
The CAT motor is underpowered and the automatic prevents push starting the vehicle in case of starter failure. Any engine...
I wonder if he had it in LOW RANGE...should have dragged that civy truck all over that parking lot.....I'd have come off the clutch in LOW RANGE 3nd gear at about 1300 RPM and snacthed a knot in his ass.

Your commute to the dunes is going to take you over two hours and use about 15 gallons of fuel (one way @ 8mpg). Diesel is 2.70 a gallon here so that is around 80 bucks worth not counting what you burn roaming around the sand.
It is going to be a rough, loud, slow and, if summer time, very hot...
There are a couple of reasons your 813 is slower than a deuce.
The main factor is weight....the 813 weighs 22,500 empty a deuce is about 12,500.
The deuce multi-fuel is turbo-charged (mostly to pacify the anti-smoggers) and that adds a lot of air to the mix.
The 5 ton is also gear...
How exactly would you go about that????
Take an axle off the front and back???
Put a deuce bed on it???
Use 5 ton springs????? The Driptriot weighs almost 4K pounds so you may want to avoid slamming on the brakes.
You would have a 440 HP truck with two axles and 4wd.....completely...
If you do some searching on the forums you should be able to find answers to most of your questions.
Trucks seem to sell for more the further west you go......prob because more are surplused out on this end of the country.
Milage in a deuce is subjective.....since you can burn just about...
I took the air cleaner element to FleetPride today. There was a number on the element and when the counter guy ran it the cost was $116.00.
I checked at another place just down the street and he offered to beat FleetPride's price....only $114.00.
I am not above swapping out the whole housing...
I have purchased (paid the almost $100.00 fee) several SF-97s for trailers.
Same process as for regular vehicle...same wait...same wonderful customer service.
I have an update on my tractor conversion.....I have aquired a deuce dropside deuce bed (thanks to Derek at TaylorTradingCo) and intend to fab a temp mount so I can install it on my M915.
I am going to remove the "pogo stick" that the air lines and electrical plug fasten onto and the spare tire...
I took "Jessica" on an outing today. She pulled a pulled a trailer to the scrap yard.
Ever since I've had her she runs sluggish on hills so on the way back I stopped at a "Diesel Doctor" to have her checked out.
The mech said the fuel pump needs to be rebuilt and new seals put in to protect it...
I have two thoughts on this subject.....replace the deuce cab with a crew cab body (I have a 1960 International I am saving for this project) or use two cab tubs back to back and have "suicide doors".
It seems like the latter would help avoid a lot of the fab issues. Just cut the backs out of...
You will find that if the crane works you have a great yard truck.
The gasser will eat you out of house and home on fuel.
That big six banger will suck the bottom out of the gas tank.
When I was putting the engine in my 816 wrecker we were using a 543 to do the swap.
We ran it out...
Make sure your credit card info is valid....they will not call you if your card is refused..they will send you an email that will go into your spam box...by the time you figure out what has happened they will have locked your account and tried to charge you a ridiculous amount to let you play...
Are you running stock 900x20 tires?
This may be relevant or not.....my M275 tractor shows 65 at 2800.
I suspect (but have no proof) that there are/were higher geared transmissions or diffs that made their way into some trucks.
Or my speedo could be FUBAR.
